The stacked vocals don't quite work for me in the chorus at 1.30 & repeats after it. Not quite balanced, in time etc and distracting from your main vocal ends up sounding cluttered.
The song is great as it the band and band mix. Sudden end though...odd.

Hi Vic, Scott S, David C, J&B, Laurent and Izzy, I was thinking, when reacting to your posts in another song (They Say), that had forgotten something. And then I realized it were the posts from you on this Waltz. So sorry I did that. Of course there was some excuse, but still. I hope you can forgive this. If not, I'm in trouble, I think... Very imaginative, Hans.
Reminds me of something Kate Bush would have done.
Those backing vocals really add something to it.

Vic Hi Vic, some have compared me with all kind of singers, but never with a woman with a very high voice... I used Tamar in it, because she can sing very high, but I don't want to call her Kate B. So thanks for that compliment! That combination of instruments works well. Experimenting with different sounds and instruments will give surprising results. I like the way the koto fits right in. I think about the same things as you in the song. Excellent work! Hi Scott, I think we all think of that, once in a while. It was a bit funny to use some snowy pictures (in the video). You are doing well, and you are even friendly and complimentary about it! Thank you for your kind words! That’s a cool mashup of RT’s and they fit the nostalgic theme very well. Janice was reminded of how wind chimes can mesmerize her and get her lost in memories. The vocals are superb. And so are the mix and the vid. And it's very cool to hear a rare forum waltz.  Enjoyed it! J&B Hello J&B, that is a very nice compliment from you! And what a beautiful picture you paint of Janice under the influence of wind chimes. I know they have that magic. My mother used to have them in the garden and even by the front door. I think she dreamed to them during the day. She certainly does now... It wasn't my first idea to compose a waltz, but as I was working with those strange instruments, I started to enjoy it more and more, only I couldn't sing along to them. Until I changed the rhythm to 3/4. Well, and that's how the waltz came in. I find the accompaniment, with the different instruments, very successful and very pleasant to listen to. A very good song.

You’ve managed to take a collection of instruments that sound like they were pulled from the National Geographic catalog—a bouzouki here, a koto there, and a harp for good measure—and somehow coerced them into a waltz that doesn’t sound like a musical identity crisis, but rather a masterclass in atmospheric elegance.
The production is, as always, top-tier. Honestly, you’ve cultivated that distinct, hazy, atmospheric "Birchwood sound" so consistently that I’m starting to think that your new studio is tucked away in an enchanted forest. It fits the 3/4 time signature perfectly; there’s something about a waltz that acts as a perfect rhythmic cradle for a story about longing and the "what-ifs" of the past.
As for the lyrical subject matter, you’ve hit a nerve. I, too, have an "old flame" from yesteryear who occasionally wanders through my mind like a ghost in a waltz. She, however, had the impeccable good sense to dump me years ago. Telle est la vie, right?
Your vocal performance, paired with Tamar’s backing, was top-tier. It’s a beautiful, bittersweet, and ultimately hopeful track. You’ve managed to turn the universal pang of "what if" into a piece of art that feels like a warm blanket on a cold night. If "One Day" we really do get to know, I hope it’s while listening to this song on repeat.

But when I had Google Translate translate it into Dutch, I thought it was even more beautiful! And I really had to smile at the thought of how you had phrased your beautiful answer. My wife thought your text was very beautiful too. You know, she even looked at me with, well... uh... admiration for me, because of what you had written about the song (and me)! But unfortunately, that's over now, I noticed. But back to your "text"; what you wrote in your last line, above "Bravo", yes, that would be something if that were the case. COOL STUFF. I think you were right about the not good balanced vocals, Ray. No one else talked about it, but I noticed it myself too. While I had aligned them with vocalign, it wasn't how I wish it had to sound. It wasn't bad, but it could have been better. Maybe in another song? Although that Vocalign is still playing tricks on me... Whatever, thanks for your compliments! Hans

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4).
