I made this song a few years ago with different instruments and a different vocal style. Last year I made a remix, invited Marty Straub to play bass, and it seemed ready for a release. But this year I changed a few things, including the rhythm section (or drums). I only kept Marty's bass. When he heard the new song, he said that his bass was almost drowned out by the drums, but that he loved it. So here it is: a girl band with a sad ending... The lyrics are on SoundCloud or in the video. I really hope you like it, especially that lead guitar, but also the House style I've wrapped this song in. But all types of responses are welcome. Hey Hans,
Great song!
I may have said this before but a lot of your songs remind me of Al Stewart (Year of the Cat dude.)
Great production and vocals my friend. Awesome.

Hans,
I liked your song, good vox as usual, and yes, the lead guitar was excellent. I found the lyrics to be, as death songs go, quite quirky, and not in a good way. What was your inspiration for this? Not my favorite by you, to be brutally honest, but I have enjoyed everything else you've ever done, so I'm sure you'll rebound next time out.

Hans, a nicely crafted tune. Super arrangement and use of BiaB instruments. That BiaB solo turned out very nice indeed, too. Your vocals and vocal arrangement are really strong, and quite enjoyable here, as always. (I detect vocal FX chain clipping in the louder sections using multiple sound sources, but that just may be something I'm especially sensitive to.) I kind of like quirky, sad songs, probably because we write so many of them. Am reminded here of The Kinks and the dark-but-still-playful side of Ray Davies, who I adore. And I adore your song, too.

Hi Hans,
That is top notch. I really enjoyed it, it really rocked and told an enjoyable although tragic story. That guitar solo was sweet, you choose the right style and everything about it was excellent. You have a unique vocal style, which I enjoyed.
Great work Hans. Kind regards

Hullo Hans. Your production sounds good. I found the lyrics a little strange but as I say, it's a fine pop production.

Ah, you know i love this one, Hans. Very interesting idea for a song. Your vocals make every story so engaging. You always amaze me in how many different versions to which you try your songs, and each one is a keeper. Cool video too.

As I wrote on the YT post, it's such a hapyy rocker, yet has such a sad ending. Nevertheless it's a great storytelling piece and thoroughly enjoyable!
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi Bob, David, Rob, Mario and Ron, Of course my reply is a little late, but there is an excuse; I am on holidays now for a week and one week to go. I am in Germany at a super small distance of Switzerland. That country lies on the other side of the river Rhein and is connected with a wooden bridge for bikers and pedestrians. The bridge is about 300 meters long and from the 13th century. It appears to be the longest wooden bridge in Europe. A very special feeling. Maybe one day I make a song of it. But let us concentrate on your posts on this “Lizzy song”. I forgot to say in the introduction on this song that I used House drums and background vocals from Logic Pro. What I needed there wasn’t available in BiaB. Hans, Great! Love the melody and the drive in this song. Very cool lyrics. Your vocal on this is excellent. You are really in fine voice! Loved it all! Bob Hi Bob, thanks for your lovely comment! And thanks for loving the lyrics too. It was my idea to make a song with several emotions in it. You got it! Hey Hans, Great song! I may have said this before but a lot of your songs remind me of Al Stewart (Year of the Cat dude.) Great production and vocals my friend. Awesome. Hi David, what nice to get this comment from you! Yes, you said it before, not Cat Steven’s, but Al Steward! I told my wife about that. Of course we know that song. It was one of my favorites, but I never thought I had a voice like him! But I believe you right away ( my wife doesn’t). But I wonder, why people don’t say this more often. Even Janice and Bud call me John, not Al… But thanks a lot! Hans, I liked your song, good vox as usual, and yes, the lead guitar was excellent. I found the lyrics to be, as death songs go, quite quirky, and not in a good way. What was your inspiration for this? Not my favorite by you, to be brutally honest, but I have enjoyed everything else you've ever done, so I'm sure you'll rebound next time out. Hello Rob, quirky, the lyrics? I was a bit amazed that you wrote this and even added “not in a good way”. There are a lot of lyrics concerning love songs (mostly similar words), one might not like the genre, but quirky. I admit, I had to look it up on Google Translate, but still didn’t get what you mean. My intention for these lyrics were to put several kinds of emotions in them, like a girls band, with one beauty and one average girl. The vocals are different in quality, and they have a different taste. But because they like singing, and together that sounded smooth, they continue singing. But then the Beauty died in an accident. That gave such a shock to the other girl that she couldn’t sing no more. And then I memorized the meaning or legacy of this band. What is so quirky about that? Explain that to me, if you want. And thanks for the rest of your comment! Hans, this is so good in so many ways: Great vocal Great arrangement A sad story perfectly set to music Great backing band Super bassist Loved it Hello Mario, the way you wrote this very nice comment, made me think of Floyd 😉 You only had to add: Good use of Band in a Box. But that is meant as a positive, but funny reaction from me ( I’m on holidays and than these things can happen). But thanks a lot for your comment. Hans, a nicely crafted tune. Super arrangement and use of BiaB instruments. That BiaB solo turned out very nice indeed, too. Your vocals and vocal arrangement are really strong, and quite enjoyable here, as always. (I detect vocal FX chain clipping in the louder sections using multiple sound sources, but that just may be something I'm especially sensitive to.) Hi Ron, thanks a lot for your so nice response! I think your ears are much sharper than mine, because I haven’t heard that FX chain clipping. I’m always very keen on sound mistakes orde clipping. And I use Isotope for extra checks. So if I’m home I will check that again… But I love to read you like quirky songs and then to which they reminded you!!! And you made my day complete with your last sentence and smile! Thanks! Thank you all and till our next comments! Hans

And thanks for the rest of your comment! Hans As I said, Hans, I have enjoyed EVERYTHING else you've done in my seven years here on the forum. You are a fine songcrafter and you have my utmost respect. But this song was too weird for me. I liked the song itself, but it does not fit the lyrics IMHO. And the lyrics weren't up to your usual standard - again, IMHO. You usually choose "big" topics for your lyrics, that may have had something to do with it. However, no one else has echoed my criticism, so it's entirely possible that I am wrong. I fully realize that. Nonetheless, I am sticking to my opinion that you swung and missed this time out (baseball analogy). I could've avoided drama and just given it a thumbs up, but to me that weakens all the good things I've said about your music over the years. If there is no risk to commenting, where is the reward? Again, I'm sure your next song will be smashing, as usual. But not this one. At least not for me.

Hoi Hans, I like your vocals and the overall vibe of the song, and the guitar is really cool. Drums aren't my thing, they distract from the song rather than adding to it. The lyrics are okay-ish, but I think some of the rhymes sound a bit forced instead of flowing naturally from the story. But overall, it's not a bad song, it has a lot of potential.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
