I have had good to excellent success when converting an audio drum track to a MIDI drum track in Melodyne Editor. That was using a complete audio drum kit. I would think it would be easier to use the stems; don't know as I don't use stems.

When I can't get good conversion results I grab Groovemonkee's MIDI drum loops. YMMV

I tried melodyne with equally unsatisfying results. I'll have another go at it but I'm not holding out much hope.

I'm using the drums on the last song I put in the showcase in hopes of raising the bar on the track a little bit more
