Well, I certainly never attended Berklee, in fact, musically speaking I’m essentially self-taught. So what they teach at elite music schools is not particularly top of mind for me.

But what I am concerned with is the overall dumbing-down of the US society and its “child”; the craving for instant, disposable, low value, low quality and shallow entertainment, arts and beyond.

Ever watch a music awards show lately? It’s about as musically nourishing as a Hostess Twinkie deep-fried in the leftover grease from an insurance company’s commercial jingle. Pitiful, emotionless, synthetic slop. And the worst part? Society lines up for seconds. I suspect this is similar to other countries as well.

To Mr. Neely: Keep up the good work man! But life is short. Strap on that bass and rock-out with your buddies as much as you can.
