We viewed another new segment of Deconstructing The Beatles on PBS last night where Scott Freiman focused on deconstructing Penny Lane. He talks about how the Bm7, the key changes and the orchestral arrangement by George Martin were all brilliant. And how a classical trumpet player showed up with several trumpets where Paul chose the highest pitched alto trumpet. They paid the guy approx. $48. He also spent a lot of time talking about George Harrison’s many creative contributions . . . good stuff for anyone who admires the inner workings of these four guys from Liverpool and one guy from London.

If I had the time, I'd buy the entire DVD set but way too busy with my music projects . . . . maybe after I retire from my retirement whistle

Here is a tiny snippet.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.
