Black Widow We’re working on an album release of our slow burn blues tunes … aptly named Burning Slow. 😀 Black Widow was first released 8 years ago and this is a re-mix with all new effects and mastering. For those not familiar with North America’s black widow spider she has a red hour glass on her belly and has the rather unfortunate habit of occasionally consuming her mates who are rather drab in appearance. 😀 And she is quite venomous (in the literal sense). We’d like to thank Dave (BlueAttitude) for his comments on the original 2018 PG Music post and his SC comments. They were so supportive and complimentary that we began and continue to focus more on this style of slow blues rock (something that Peter had played for years before we met). Seven husbands! That's an ominous throwdown to lead with, and ya'll CRUSHED the delivery.
All the performances are top shelf, as usual, which is why I imagine it's getting dusted off eight years later.
With that in mind, I'll focus on the remix, which is SPECTACULAR. Very punchy, clean and shimmery. I especially like the vox and lead guitar ambient FX. Everything is just perfect to my ears.
We used to collect black widows in a jar, feed them and watch them work. Sort of like the redneck version of an ant farm. You had to be there I guess...

I love the Stormy Monday chord progression (harmonica players usually hate it, but I love it) and it's in fine form here. Best I've heard Peter play. Janice's vox are nonpareil, nothing new about that. Everything sounds great. Excellent work, team!

The usual suspects are doing the usual great job. Wow! This re-mix just shines. I absolutely remember the first one - it was also great. This just sounds so much more organic and nuanced. It really showcases Janice - an astounding vocal. An immersive experience on my room speakers. Some really great headroom as well - it never breaks up when the volume is pushed - just sounds better.
This should be one fine album - wishing you all the best with it!

I remember this one..... Which is sayin something. I can normally watch a movie and only as it gets near the end, I say, oh yeah, I've seen this one before...... LOL...
Nicely done. It never hurts to revisit the old ones for updating as, hopefully, our skills are better now. I like this remake.

Janice, Bud & Peter, this is one of the best blues songs that I have ever heard and I have heard a lot of them.
Great vocal, guitar leads, backing band, and mix.
This is a true blues masterpiece.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing.
