i see your situation re the condo corner....thanks.
one thing you might consider for the future is a mini pc
several feet away.
(my mini pc has no fan noise the way its designed...has a fan...)
and you end up with just a pc keyboard on the stand/lap.
and monitor mounted on the wall.
cant get any lighter than that.

the beauty of some mini pc's is they are lightweight, sit in your hand and also depending on make have 2 ssd slots internally often that laptops dont have unless one spends big for a custom built laptop built by a company that specialises in such for recording studios.
there is also a BIG advantage...with 2 built in ssd's...
ie...windows has its own storage drive and one uses the second
drive for music production.
why is this of benefit ??
answer because there is no way that win can 'interrupt' the recording process and thus impacting production...which ive seen in the past eg 'stutters and hiccups' with one drive set ups.
(interruption can also occur if a music pc is on the net.)

on amazon (where i got my mini pc i love...) there are loads
of powerfull low priced mini pc's....some supporting 2 ssd's.
(dont buy pc's useing slow processors.)
amazon normally has a 30 day return which is plenty of time to see if any purchase meets your needs via tests.

dont get me started on that...lol...its a darn shame.

answer brit governments fault/no vision imho resulting in a ton of lost jobs....problem being that uk govt arent tech people...just mandarins often.

fyi i'm now living in canada (lovely cdn wife) and canada has the same probs as uk.
lack of future industrial vision at the political level.
thus loads of lost jobs to other countries.
for example ive pointed out to many cdn politicos that japan unlike canada built its own car industry. so why...instead of importing ev's
doesnt canada build (like japan) its own ev industry for exporting to the world.
ive pointed out to the politicos that there are 3 key industries to dominate imho in the coming years.

..cheap ev's with long ranges eg 800k before recharge.
(some countries are doing r/d on 50 yr batteries.).
to address range anxiety.
..future quantum technologies for computing and more powerfull cheap pc's.
..micro nuclear power sources. particularly in a country like canada with a zillion poles and electricity wires that are costly to maintain...(downed poles/wires in winter....)

but nooo this country doesnt have much of a shipbuilding or aircraft industry so is looking/evaluating right now at importing foreign made fighter jets and submarines which only serves to create loadsof jobs in other countries...go figure....no vision.
to be fair both uk and canada have world class medical researchers.

fyi why i have high regard for pg and support their products is they are a rare cdn small company that exports to the world.
