I just fell for Musician's Friend's Stupid Deal of the Day and ordered myself a pair of KRK ROKIT 5 Generation Five Powered 5" Limited-Edition White Studio Monitors! I've been mixing with headphones forever and I thought maybe I should try these bad boys out and see if I can improve my mixes.

But, like every music gear rabbit hole, I have quickly discovered I need more "stuff" to make these work with my PC. Stuff like cables and speaker stands/mounts. And also "stuff" like an audio interface.

I know very little about audio interfaces because I record everything using a Zoom field recorder. It's a simple solution that has worked well for me over the years. I record everything solo, no band involved. I can see me needing to record guitar and vocals simultaneously sometimes but most of the time each track will be recorded separately.

But now I am learning that the audio output of my PC is probably crap and if I simply feed that to my new KRK monitors it won't sound nearly as good as it would through an audio interface. And if I'm already investing in KRKs...

I also discovered that I could use my Zoom as an audio interface but I'm not sure how messy that would be to cable it and have it set up on my desk. So I think I'm in the market for an affordable audio interface!

Any suggestions for an audio interface that would work best for me at an affordable price? I am attracted to the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen USB Audio Interface at $225 because it seems to be extremely popular and when it comes to things like this that I don't fully understand (nor want to) I tend to be a bit of a follower! I also considered the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen USB Audio Interface which would remove some features and save me $65.

I'm sure this has been discussed but I searched and couldn't find a recent conversation here so I'd love to hear what you guys love (or use)! Thanks!
