I'm tinkering with using Band-in-a-Box to create some guitar backing tracks to play along to and this is my first one. It's an idea I've had for a while because most available backing tracks are endless chord loops that get boring after a while. So, I want to make backing tracks with actual song structures like intros, verses, choruses, bridges, and outros because it's more like playing a real song. I even registered a domain and pointed it to my YouTube playlist https://backingtracksongs.com and hope to make more of these. Band-in-a-Box is perfect for this kind of thing!

Here's the Band-in-a-Box style info:

R&B horn section with 60s soul RealTracks. Horns are baritone sax, tenor sax & trumpet. Rest of the band is made up of bass, drums (with tambourine), electric guitar & piano. -Examples: Respect, Closet Religion, God is Good, Genre "Intensity" Score=55/100

I mixed it in LUNA using my Softube Console 1 Mixing System by with a few Softube and UAD plugins. The drums, bass, and horns have an instance of Oxide Tape and the A-Type Multiband Dynamic Enhancer plugin. I did a little panning and volume level adjustments each channel and then on the main channel I used UAD's Ampex ATR-102 Mastering Tape Recorder, Precision Buss Compressor, and Precision Limiter plugins. I also used Softube's Layers, Equalizers, Weiss Exciter, and Weiss DS5 plugins.

I wanted to add some DAW editing like volume automation or maybe some cuts to bring horns in and out as opposed to having them play through the whole song but I'm learning and haven't figured that out yet. I'm still fairly new to using the DAW and new to the whole mixing process in general. It is fun and I'm having a great time learning.

I exported the audio over into Camtasia and used Neck Diagrams 2 to add in the guitar chord fingerings. Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out. It took me a long time to add in the guitar chords but I suppose I'll get faster at it as I make more of these. Anyhow, if you are a guitar player grab your guitar and have a play along and let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
