How do you use both or switch from one to the other?

I use them both in Reaper. Melodyn v5 is full ARA2. However, tonalic (free version for melodyn users) has ARA2, but it is not compatible in Reaper so you have to use the VSTi version.
No idea what the VSTi is. On the Mac, it should be AU, VST (actually VST2) and VST3.

Only the VST3 is ARA (actually ARA2) is supposed to be compatible on a Mac except in Logic. In Logic, the AU is ARA2 compatible on an Intel machine or over Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon. Celemony owns ARA/ARA2, not Apple, and has been promising AS Native for the AU for years. They have till October 2027–we'll see.

Back to my question. I cannot pull up Melodyne Basic/Essentials on any Mac where I have Melodyne Studio installed. I had to install Essentials only onto one of my older Macs so that I could test its functionality. Essentials is fine but cannot handle polyphony at all. There are times when I'd like to enable that restriction in Studio.
