the app is for playing live or practicing for playing live, or heck just playing for fun. It is an app that scrolls PDFs sheets, or you can also scroll google sheets if you want (that takes a step or two) and links them to an MP3 file of backing tracks. I know there are several out there but i have found most to be either way to complicated or way to simple. The test subject is the "Lite" it does what i is described in above. the app is not an app store ready app it is a simple https file that should work on any browser and should open a browser even offline with no internet. Keeping it lite on resources. it has a built-in import export so you can create a desktop folder to store your song list and them import it there, or export new songs that you create to play. If you are interested, please send your email address in a private message here on pgm, and i will send the link fresh, and a PDF users guide. Side note this was developed with Band in a Box created files in mind. I have currently about 20 or more i have created using BiaB to make my MP3 files. and matching PDFs .
The idea is to test specifically:
Add 5-10 real songs they actually play Attach a PDF chart and use it in performance mode Try the auto-scroll with an MP3 backing track Build a setlist and run through it start to finish On iPhone — install it to the home screen and use it from there
What to report:
Anything that doesn't work on their specific device Anything confusing or hard to find Features they wish it had Whether the scroll speed feels right with real music

Interesting. I don't play live anymore, or if I do it is a very rare occasion. I can help you with the testing part. It's easy enough to set up and test it according to your requirements. You can email me if you'd like me to help and participate in the shakedown cruise/ beta testing of the app.

I would take your unobscured email off the page as it'll get harvested for scamming. Personal messages are safer, but of course you have to handle them.
I may be able to test if you need more people. I'm usually thorough about identifying and reporting stuff, but have largely stopped doing that with BiaB as it became a rod for my own back.
I do have an interest in the functionality you describe.

Hi Rob I’m no techie, but as it’s https, I am assuming it would come up full screen (landscape or portrait) on an iPad through Safari? I jam with mates and use an iPad because of eyesight issues. Andrew

yes it has that capability. Once i know the free lite version is working i will need to test the Pro version that has some cool features. Like A BiaB type chord sheet that allows the user to copy paste in text lyrics, type in chords or to copy paste in Ultimate guitar sheets as well.
feel free to shoot me a private message and i will link the html file.

I'd like to get in on this but just took on a bunch of work that will likely delay my resuming live gigs till nearly Christmas.
Dang, this looks like fun.

Jump in Mike when you are ready the link is above that is all you need to open it. The help file gives instruction on how to install on a desktop or laptop. Then all you need is a few PDF chord sheets and matching MP3 files to sync up. I see you use finale, if you export PDFs out of finale, you can export as continuous format. If you already have PDF songs sheet, you can use PDFgear a free editor to crop the PDF pages to have no gap in the middle that always messes with the scroll speed on these type apps.
My whole point here i love making my take on a song with BiaB and I want to be able to toss my old shabby notebook and clean it up. I have tried several other scrolling apps but never really liked them. Either too complicated or not enough development. i thought hhhmmm make my own.

Rob, I would love to play with this, but I am currently on an extended camping vacation since May 1st. I should be home mid-July, so if you still need help then, I'm happy to jump in.

I just did a nice upgrade thanks to some feedback from Andrew Dee. We are slowly working the bugs out on this. Please take a look when you can.

Just a quick note.
I normally use Linux. On that I tried Firefox, Brave and Chromium, but couldn't find a way to install on them, though I didn't look all that hard. On Windows, also no-go on Firefox, but it installed on Edge.

Hey Gordon thanks for the input. I appreciate your help. I have used it on Chrome, and Edge and Safari. Chrome and edge do best. The other i have barely heard of. Safari Firefox do not have the install tools that the others do. in these other browsers it is best to just run it as a browser tool. It is not the app it is the browser that lacks that kind of ability.

I was interested in your app, so I clicked on your link to see what it was about. In that process, I thought of a few suggestions from the perspective of a "user" who has never laid eyes on your app (or any other "app" that installs in a browser). I'm using edge on a win 11 laptop, so that's the platform of the installation. I ran the install routine after determining that the install directions were just a little bit off. A complete computer illiterate (my spouse) would probably have given up. Here's my suggestion for a more clear install instructions (for Edge): 🪟 Windows Edge The app is the link [ https://chordbooklite.surge.sh/ ] to be pasted into your address bar if it doesn't already appear there. Open the app in Edge by pressing [ Enter ] Edge: click the ⋯ "menu" (three dots in the upper right) → "More Tools" > "Apps" → "Install this site as an app" Click Install and when finished, the app appears in your Start menu and taskbar ✅ (The "More Tools" submenu selection was missing in the instructions) The next thing I determined is that the songs listed were apparently only text with no actual pdf's or song files for testing. That kind of put the brakes on my testing plans for the app, since I'm not able to dig around for a pdf and matching mp3 to test with. It would be helpful if there were a link on your website for a few files to download for testing just to see and get a feel of how the program runs. One thing I did notice is that the error screen for a missing pdf file had dark red text on dark grey. That was almost impossible to read on my laptop. Also, there is a button in the upper left that says EXIT. I was seeking a way to return to the main screen and I debated if EXIT meant "close the program" or "return to previous", or whatever. After pressing EXIT I found that it was to return to previous. Perhaps BACK might be an alternative (thinking for my spouse) Finally, a YT video showing installation, using the app and the features would be extra slick. Kinda gives a jump-start on how to and what to do. Not criticizing at all, it sounds like a neat program. Your request was for input, so I hope this helps. BluegrassPicker

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
