Please take the CITY EXIT

Some people meditate. Some do yoga. I used to twist a throttle and head for the horizon.

This song is my postcard from the Australian bush....a place where the roads are long, the skies are bigger than your worries, and even the silence has something to say.

The scenery is pure Australia, but the reason for the journey isn't. Wherever you live, I suspect there's a place that reminds you who you are once the world stops shouting.

That's the place this song is chasing.

Happy Trails

Izzy.

Another wonderful track from you. Lots of Realtracks used but it never seemed crowded. Vox and lyrics were very good. The two lines about kangaroos were a nice little bit of poetry. (Gone too quick to be understood!) Had to look up spinifex and paperbarks, my knowledge of botany sucks. My first job was with Harley-Davidson, I rode for a few years but decided American traffic and bikes didn't mix well. Still, I can understand the appeal of twisting that throttle.

Izzy, a fantastic song. Great vocal and lyrics. Fantastic arrangement. Super mix. Great use of RTs, outstanding fiddle lead.
IMHO this is your best to date.

Your song is very soothing, and the vocals are excellent. I really like the theme, because when I had a motorcycle, I loved riding through the countryside just for the pleasure of it. Thanks for the enjoyable time spent listening to the song.

Wow, Izzy!

This one is great!

Love those lyrics. It amazes me how you can shift so easily between genres and still sound so good in all of them. It is time for another scorching rocker in the style of the Cure though. I am jones-ing for one.

Great song, Izzy.
I like the way you built up the tracks leading to the chorus.
One small nit I have was the solo cuts out too abruptly, imho. It really is a small nit though.

Hi Bob,

Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the track and I’m even more honoured that I managed to turn your listening session into a mini botany lesson. 🌼

I was a bit worried my "Aussie-speak" might be a barrier for our global friends, but I felt like if I didn’t include the "localism lyrics", the outback might just revoke my "Australian Passport." 🙃 Thanks for taking the time to look them up!

That is incredibly cool that you started out at Harley-Davidson. Big Harley V-Twins really are the Kings of the road (don't get me started on Jap clones..grrrrr). Sadly I never owned a Harley because of their cruiser sitting position which (for me) was not condusive for long distance touring.
My own riding days are behind me, too. I eventually realized that while I used to feel invincible, I’ve hit that age where I’m significantly less "bulletproof" and significantly more "brittle." I decided to trade the high-speed throttle twisting for the slightly safer thrill of just writing about it. 😩

Thanks again for the listen and for being a class act, Bob. 🙏🏻

Best regards,

Izzy

Nah! I gotta tell it like it is Izzy, and I didn’t like it….
….I loved it!

This is showing you’ve got a soft sentimental side and I really loved it. Your lyrics are perfect and so creative. I especially liked the line:

“Emu tracks cut through the dust, Through a land that never needed us.”

Don’t know why but that bit about not needing us just resonated with me. Couldn’t fault anything on the playing or production. This is a great representation of our beautiful country and should be out there being heard in the mainstream music scene.

Another exceptional song Izzy….we are not worthy!!

Kind regards

Thank you Laurent

As for motorcycle touring you live in a very beautiful and interesting part of the world. (I regret too much time exploring the coastal roads instead of
the diversity and heritage richness of the Normandy landscape.)

Merci for your lovely words

Hi David

I was thrilled to hear your latest creation and I agree with your Band sentiments having recently reforming my old band.

"shift so easily between genres"

Well ALL music comprises of only 3 chords so only the tempo changes ! (only half joking)

"time for another scorching rocker"

https://soundcloud.com/izzyseriass/i-aint-broken-yet

I think we may be singing from the same Hymn Sheet at the moment.

It's always a thrill to receive your comments and hear your music David.

Best Regards

G'day Andrew

Not sure if that's an endorsement of this song or a request for another rocker?

I'm hoping it is the former because as a fellow "digger" I really need your "fair dinkum" scrutiny if it passes the pub test or not?

And yes I know that I need to get my finger out and review your and Lee's fabulous recent songs!
cheers

It’s a request to hear you do something Cure-like! I reckon you’ve got it in you! I’ve been trying recently not be so quick-off-the-mark in my reviews - letting the songs mellow a bit.

No hurry - when you’re ready. I think you’ll like Lee’s vocal, and my lyrics will give you plenty of material to work your review.

Just because you asked nicely with your exquisite use of ASCII art, I will review.
Andrew
PS if ever you’re down at the 35th degree, be sure to contact Lee and me beforehand so we can catch up for a libation of choice.

Very beautifully painted description of Australian nature, "Through a land that never needed us" - never been there but I can really feel that Big empty - "where the skies are bigger than your worries".

Great vocals with message that feels honest and personally experienced. Pleasant band supports that honesty.

"Where the wild things are" - worth chasing - I don't ride, I just walk, but the view and the reason for the journey are the same I suppose.

Janne

Dang, Izzy, you are surely one of my favorite wordsmiths. "a place where the roads are long, the skies are bigger than your worries, and even the silence has something to say." Oh, thanks for this wonderful ride. A slow ride through wonderful sounds of harmony. Your lyrics are like a travelogue, although i'm not really sure what a travelogue is because i like rides like this where you just ride for the sake of riding --especially exiting the city.

Really good write and a terrific song idea. i like how you use dynamics to keep the rider attentive. Great opening to the song where you keep the instruments simple as your vocal makes the statement of what's to come. Man, just like the quote at the beginning nearly every line of lyric is quotable.

Some favs:
White bones standing in defeat.
Kangaroos move like a passing thought,
Through a land that never needed us.

Enjoy whatever happens!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
