Anytime I need to fix something with glue or epoxy, I always roughen the surface with a course grit sandpaper. The problem is that very often, the stresses that caused the original fracture in the part are going to allow it to break again. Often in the same place as well as in other new locations due to fatigue in the original material from stress and age.

I hope you get it fixed in an acceptable way
