Soundcloud: Awaiting the hunters

This is another instrumental I wrote back in the early 00s - earliest evidence I have is a midi file dated October 2004, so probably written a year or so before then. My songwriting had an absolute explosion in creativity thanks to BIAB and being able to hear my ideas come to fruition. The piece is meant to illustrate the routine of the tribe camp while waiting for the hunter gatherers to return with the goods, and the piccolos in the chorus implying the heat of the day rising off the land.

I composed it completely in BIAB, inputting chords and my melody in the notation window. I created a basic drum map and other instruments in a self-created STY file. In this recording, I exported the midi tracks into Reaper and added VST instrument plugins for the drum and piccolos. Mirroring the midi bass and guitars, I replaced both with my own recordings. For complete transparency, I had to time stretch some of the bass notes into position and slowed the recording down to 70 BPM from 85 BPM so that I could play the lead guitar passages, with an occassional bit of time stretching for the odd note here and there. Apologies if the pitch of some of the notes are a few cents off - that's me being an anxious player.
