If Musicians can sell their own real tracks of their own instrument and make BIAB as the Market Place similar to musicians selling their music at iTunes.

What great possibilities of making BAIB a defacto in M-M business (musician to musician) and not to mention the increase revenue PG music will have.

That would also open up the programming of Rts to the rest of the DAW world, and create a very huge field of competition for PG. Certainly an interesting discussion, but i doubt one PG wants to have.

Thanks for response, Programming of Rts doesn't need to be exposed, Musician need only to submit high definition recordings to PG and PG will package it for them and sell it similar to how they sell realPaks. iTunes cut of 30% on every download can be adopted. Membership fee can also be implemented which will set guidelines and rules and also ad revenue to PG. It worked very well for their software ecosystem, why not try it in music production. Musicians will do the hard work and PG music will facilitate the business flow of M-M transactions.

If this is done, PG will reach musicians of different genres from middle eastern to south east Asia.

If PG will not do this, someone will and it would PG's loss.

Just my opinion, but I don't see that realtracks have special technology that isn't already known or readily duplicated in the DAW world. Wavesampling, Acidized loops, not to mention pitch (autotune) and retiming features are pretty much everywhere.

IMHO the true value of realtracks for pgmusic is not their technology, but how they make it fit their products' workflow and the extent to which their style range draws their users.

Though I can only guess, I don't think their RealTracks revenues are big by themselves. I think they help increase the numbers of loyal customers who upgrade for the largest package which includes whatever the current realtracks bundle is. And for BIAB, as for many DAW type products, I think customer upgrades are now the largest segment of sales.

Having said that, whatever increases the draw to the BIAB line must be a plus. But would third party Realtracks lead to less upgrades ... don't know.

Finally, I have found a cool signature with sufficiently dry humor.

If I understand reginr correctly, he/she has an interesting idea. PG Music uses a proprietary process to make Real Tracks, and if they gave out the specs for us to play an instrument and instructions on exactly how the recordings should be made, they could produce custom Real Tracks for us for a fee, without revealing their process. Is that what you are saying?

I think you are right about what reginr was saying. However, my guesstimation of pgmusic's is a little bit different. I think pgmusic's real track's process requires a human ear, a musical ear. IIRC, A year or couple back there was a request on this forum for people to help with development, some computer expertise with a musical ear etc, but in retrospect it was probably for realtracks. Anyway, looking at how acidized wave files are created, the process is always helped by a human tweak. This is likely the same for realtracks. I don't think the process is completely automated. At the same time, I think reginr's idea is valid. It's analogous to the secondary market in regular styles. How big did that really get?
Any internal process is "proprietary", but as I stated I don't think pgmusic's brand value, or product value is enhanced by a closed standard. If third party sampling disks were suddenly realtracks compatible, I don't see BIAB users fleeing, I'd guess there'd be some enhancing to BIAB's value as more styles would be around. Perhaps there is some enhancement to the BIAB brand image by the notion that realtracks are advanced and exclusive technology. Wouldn't be the first time a company claims something like that.
I think history has shown that opening a standard often helps the creator. Look how VST has helped the publishers of Cubase.
I wouldn't be surprised if BIAB 2011 or 2012 or 2011.6666 enabled users to create their own realtracks.

Just my speculation, don't trade derivatives on it.
