It took me a while to get that one-yacht not do that. You have to think like a redneck to get that one.

These are getting better all the time. Thanks so much. I'm going to turn a bunch of those into songs. I'd love to get into comedy song gigs.

you know, There are so many of us wanting to do the same sort of entertaining, I wish there were a way to trade ORIGINAL material so we could build off one anothers' creativity. Let's say we had 10 people who wanted to write and perform humorous original songs. If each wrote and contributed 3 or 4 songs, the resulting 30 or 40 songs would be enough for everybody to be up and running in a hurry. The story of my life is to have a good idea, but run out of steam before I can bring it to fruition. Getting multiple people on board would share the creative burden and push the entire group to a reasonable starting point fairly quickly. If we had more than 10 members, then we'd start to acquire so much material that we could pick and choose songs for topical performances, like your special interest boating crowd. If anybody is interested in such a collaboration, let me know. We can set up a private yahoo group for kicking ideas and songs around. We could even group brainstorm the lyrics. I am a firm believer that the collective intellect tends to yield better results than any one intellect working alone.

But my wife says I'm not funny. Does anyone's wife think they are funny?

yes, but not in a particularly good way.

But seriously, humor is a highly individual thing. In any given crowd, your sense of humor will gel with some but not others. Once you figure out which is which, play to those who are laughing.

So far "captain kook" seems to be the winner.

Good call. That's still my favorite too. It is the perfect combination of nautical reference, humor, and it designates you to be the captain, so you get to say what you want.
