I see it all the time.
It's not coffee cup problem, as it happens in Alleycode, Notepad++ and others.

Quotes, apostrophes, etc. are not stored as typical characters in a lot of word processors.
As John mentioned; sometimes pasting to another program first will remove it, but sometimes not.
Find the offending character and use 'Find and Replace' to replace every instance with a normal character in one move.

The ones that are a bugger are the ones that appear as a blank space; these have to be cut right out. These often appear as a black diamond with a question mark in it, once viewed from a browser.
Someone should write a text cleaning plugin for some of these programs.
