Thanks, all.

Mac - It is a funky dialog - It gives you a few choices on how to proceed, but has no affirmative button, as you suggested. Only "Close". I just re-checked the ACW video, and they show exiting with that button.

Now, I was hoping John's suggestion of nudging the bar 1 marker would force ACW to rethink the chords, but no.

Then, I noticed that when I enter ACW from BIAB There are two dialogs along the way. The second asks "Preserve chords and part markers?". I had been blindly clicking "Yes". Now I click "No" and THIS forces ACW to rethink the chords. And they stuck.

I've now gone back and forth a few times and there has been no recurrence of lost chords. So I'm calling this a fluke, until it happens again.

Thanks again.
