At that point I'd just go with Sonar.
Why waste time on it if the default setup doesn't work?

Sounds like something is wrong in the set up. Maybe drivers trying to use different bitrates or the Windows default 'windows soundmapper' selected for drivers..

At least that's my guess, if you want to try it. A whole lot of people run it reliably once set up correctly. Many of us think it is a fantastic extension to BiaB ( for exactly the "BIAB song I have been rethinking" aspect). So you can give it a fair shot with a little effort setting it up...

or stick with your comfort zone.
You asked "why would I want to use it" and got good reasons.
Now it seems to have morphed into 'it doesn't work for me'.
If you want help setting it up, people here will help. If you want to disgard it because it doen't just fire up and play; no problem here.
