That's what I want to know.

I keep trying to regenerate RT522 Acoustic picking but RB keeps inserting RT365 Acoustic picking.
Is there no way to force my pick. I have both.

I am sick of hammer-ons - they are way over done in the fingerpicking RTS - more than any real guitarist would use over the course of a 3-4 minute song.

I just want some peaceful 4/4 picking - no fancy fills.

Ideas anyone? I'm prepared to edit if I can find some long enough stretches without them. Seems every chord change brings a hammer-on.

Ian

Do you have "Allow Auto-Realtracks substitution based on tempo" selected? RT522 does allow tempo swapping and is at a tempo of 120 and RT365 has a tempo of 85. What is the tempo of your song? This might be what is going on.

Hi Brian - I missed your reply yesterday - apologies.
I think you are probably correct - the song is 105 . . . top of one RT, bottom of the other.
I'm not anxious to rerecord my voice for the sake of 5 bpms.

So, after spending the requisite purgatory trying to enter logical keywords and find the

check mark, can you tell me where it is in RB?
Now that I have asked that question, it will suddenly manifest itself before my eyes, or be located in a ridiculously obvious place which I haven't noticed.

Here's hoping, anyway. Ian

Does the Track name say 522 but you actually hear something else, or does it actually change to 365?
I get 522 here, at least that is what the trackname says..
It is slow tempo (105) for the style, but it's there.

If it changes, what checkboxes do you enable at the bottom of the realtracks selection screen?
I don't know of the checkbox mentioned above by Brian Hughes, maybe it's a BiaB option?

I designate the the track for RT522 and then generate. But while watching the process in the border at the top, I see rendering RT 365. Yet it shows that 522 can be used at 105 bpm.

I have RB 2010.5 [2].
The only checkboxes
RTs that are N/A (unchecked)
RT Variations - checked
Show if tempo out of range - checked

There is no checkbox as mentioned by Brian that's why I was wondering where it could be found. Perhaps it's only for BIAB - but I can't find it.

Well shoot. I never noticed it doing that. It doesn't always do it. It did it once and then no matter what tempo it would generate 522 at the top

Generated 522 every time here FWIW (at 105 tempo)
Same checkboxes as Ian

Ian, when you say 'designate' do you just double click the track to generate it?

OK on existing songs I'm getting the substitution. On a new file I'm not. Can't figure why or how to turn it off.

I use classics window - so designate means just putting the cursor on the track number.
Then I hit the generate button at the top and pick my RT.

If I have to regenerate I use "erase" on the track menu first.

did you ever find a check box?

No never found the checkbox.

Interesting too - I just tried it again.
RT Window, doubleclicked on RT522, RT generated but it said 365 as it progressed. When done, RT522
was written in the previously empty RB track.

I am sorry that is only a BIAB setting for RT's not Realband...thought I was reading it out of the help menu in Realband though.

Also I noticed the BIAB manual appearing under RealBand while I was searching.
Where in the BIAB program is this setting Brian??

Hi Ian, under Opt>Prefernces>Realtracks is where the setting is in BIAB.
I have listened to RT522 & RT365 and they both do the hammer on deals so wonder if you might have to wait for some new Rt's?

Thanks Brian.

I was hoping that maybe 522 would give longer stretches without hammer-ons. But looks like it's not to be. As for the checkbox, I was hoping that maybe it was connected to the RTs in RealBand sort of under the table . . . ya never know. I'll give it a shot anyway.

Cheers

Ah, I was using a new file each time.
Send support a note, see if they can dupe it.
Make sure they know it happens on existing files

I sent an e-mail off to support about this.

By the looks of things around here today, someone is going to be busy.

Hi Ian,

I had a slightly different problem just a couple of weeks ago that might be related to yours. It wasn't RT #522 though. I don't remember the RT number but it was a bass guitar. Try as I might, I couldn't generate that particular bass on track.

I tried to generate the b/guitar a few times at different sessions. A couple of days later, when I'd given up on using that particular RT, RB froze and I had to ctrl+alt+del to close it via Task Manager. Then when I rebooted, and it asked me if it was OK to restore all settings for a safe boot-up (since it crashed last time), I chose "yes". This essentially reset RB to factory defaults.

Since I don't run external syths or have any unusual settings, factory defaults is fine by me. Doing this seemed to clear the problem. If your set-up is pretty much "out of the box", it might be worth trying the above procedure. WARNING: You will lose any special settings that you might have made, though.

Regards,
Noel
