I am sure this is possible, but most likely not probable. Think of it, how does RTs work? they take a wave file of a player, let's say strumming a guitar with a certain pattern, and then it cuts that up and pieces it back together to match the chord and bar structure of the song.

For this to work with notes following midi, it would have to chop it up to the note rather than bar of chord. Each note would have to be pieced back together matching end to end perfectly, no breaks or over laps or it would not sound smooth. In any guitar solo there are notes that are one beat, 1.5 beats, 2 beats, 2.25768543 beats, some slide out and bend back, some are extended, some are chopped short. How on earth would you have every possible note in one wave file, how would have just the right ones so that the piece back was seamless? If you really think about it that is exactly what a sampler does. It takes a full arsenal of sample real guitar notes and pieces them together to follow midi, and look what we have, a night mare to get it to sound real.

With full and half bar long phrases, you have the time to make a seamless track, with notes half notes, whole notes, quarter notes, bends, slides, Etc. That would be back to the midi synth/sampler issues. With synths you get seamless tracks with very little human feel, with pieced together RT notes you would have human feel with very little chance to gain seamless connection. I think it would be worse.

The real track solos are pretty darned good as they are, not perfect, and certainly not a fit for every situation, some midi solos are pretty darned good, but not a perfect fit for every situation. There is another solution that is available, Real Solos, played by yourself, or other forum members, or other real musicians around the globe. RTs are not going to fully replace US!! Hopefully! I did a cover version of a great old song a few years back, and i hated the midi solo, one I can't quite pull off. One forum member at that time offered to play it for me i had a very sweet version the next day on my e-mail. Saweeeeeet!
