I don't want to tie up the very busy support line so I'm hoping someone here can help...

The 2011 upgrade manual says 'Some RealTracks have a “simpler” variation with less complex playing (e.g. Acoustic Bass Jazz Swing)'. I hope I'm missing how to achieve this as 2010 had variations for many instruments. I can't find a checkbox or anything else that would enable this. I only downloaded and installed the BIAB/RB upgrade as the other links, I believe, were already present on my system.

Thanks,
R

My understanding was this was a unique Bass RT offered in RT Jazz 5. But I may be wrong, My download of BIAB 2011 is about half done and I suspect I will wait for the hard drive to get the new RT's.

Rachel I think it is the algorithm they used to 'compose' the realtracks and they realized that some stuff was too busy. There are specific realtracks in the release that play in a simpler fashion, and there are some bass parts that applies to.

In the end, the best development is the basic engine allowing the tracks to be stretched or shortened allowing for a wider range of raw file usage, so the 'shrink' program knows that 80 bpm can be 160 or 40 so it gets rid of the stuff that you have that was in there at 90 and 100 etc.

Hi Rachel,
The simpler variation of the Jazz Acoustic Bass RealTracks is coming, but not available yet in the download. It should be available for download some time next week, and those would be included in the next maintenance patch for 2011.

Note that the Gypsy Jazz have new Acoustic Bass Tracks (by Simon Planting*), and those might be used, either in the meantime, or permanently, as they are in the gypsy jazz style, which tends to be "simpler" in terms of less notes per bar.
You can hear that bass in this demo:

Peter, the scrolling words in your demo video are upside down.

That's strange. They look fine to me.
You are talking about this video... correct?

Wow, strange isn't the word for it. I'm at work now and just played the clip and the overlay is fine. At home it was flipped using WMP. The flip I'm talking about is if you had a piece of glass hinged horizontally in the middle and you rotated it along the horizontal axis. The writing was upside down but still went left to right. When I get home I'll try it again.

Well, at least I'm not crazy. I just downloaded it again and again WMP is playing it as I described. I also have Media Player Classic and it plays it ok. This is beyond weird. The first time I didn't download and save it I just said to play it. This time I saved it and right clicked on the clip and told it to play with WMP and still it's upside down. Then I opened a TV show I got from HULU and it played fine with WMP. It's just this clip.
I've never used one of those picture websites but I may sign up with one so I can post the screen shot. You guys will love it, especially John...

John is a tad vague. With your distorted view perhaps you should pontificate on Sino Soviet relations.
