I have a question about Key signatures.

It is possible these days to change the key signature several times in a tune. For instance, I just did a version of "And All That Jazz" for my band that goes from C to Db to D and back to C. I entered these key signatures successfully using the 'Edit' 'Settings For Current Bar' 'Key Signature Change to' box. It prints out fine when you use the Notation Window Option, Transpose Option: 'Concert Melody (Treble Clef)'.

A problem arises when you try to print out parts for the rest of the band, for instance - using the Transpose Option 'Trumpet +2'. The key signatures do not transpose. They stay the same as for 'Concert Melody'.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way around this? All I can think of to do is copy the tune to another file and then change the key signature permanently. But is becomes a bit inconvenient when you need Concert Treble Clef, Concert Bass Clef, Bb and Eb parts.

The trombone section always tells me I should learn to read whatever music I'm given, then they ask my wife to transpose this to....lol

Graham, I recall this behavior was reported some months ago. Just for fun, though, I'll see if I can duplicate it.

Presumably this is related to the current logic of the Bar Settings dialog -> "Key Signature Change to ..." likely means just that -> Key Signature Change to ...". It's not meant to be "Key Signature Change Relative to the Song Signature" or s.th. to that effect. Might be useful to provide a suitable option here, indeed.

Well from a playing point of view, what better to ask for than a lead sheet option where you check, print lead sheet for 0 and you fill in the bullet,

Concert C
Bflat Instruments Treble
Bflat Instruments Bass Clef
Blfat Inst. Treble +8va
Bflat Inst. Bass +8va
Then -8va
Then Eflat in the above variations
Then F for some horns

Then when the lead sheet prints, presto....every thing the heart could desire, a sheet for each member of the band.

Also a tick mark, print 2nd page for this option if a solo exists....

One stop shopping. And I'm sure it's easily done. What I've done in the past is print the thing in the desired keys by changing it. So if it is in Gb I do one sheet in Gb for me and one in Ab for yonder horn player. (Bflat horn that is).

My biggest transposition thing is the wife. She plays ye olde flute. And she hates middle C. So I have to print it higher. But really high bothers me to no end. So we hit the smiling fortune teller, or strike a happy medium...which isn't rare. Well Done!

Graham, I just played with this briefly, and I was able to duplicate your finding. The most interesting thing that happened was the signature of the lead-in bar, when I changed the main key.
