We recently listed a truck canopy, a tonneau cover, and extension mirrors on craiglist. We got the email from a guy that wanted to buy the whole works. He would send the carrier company around to pick up the goods. Only thing was that he said he didn't know how much the freight would be so he wrote the cheque out for an excess amount. All we had to do was get their check signed over to us, and we pay the difference to the carrier- - -yeah right. This is an old scam:their check bounces, they have the difference of the cheques in our cash AND they have our goods! Funny when I told them cash only up front I never heard from them again! Hi Dennis,
There was a similar type of scam going on here. Someone would list a car for sale on a website, and would get an offer from someone overseas. They agreed on a price, and the buyer arranged "payment" including the shipping cost of the vehicle, requesting the seller to pay for the transport of the vehicle to the oversees destination. Same M.O., slightly different twist.

Cheers,
