Loaded in biab 2011 everything went ok.Now I cant find any of the songs that I recorded on biab 2010 can anyone help please Frankie

How did you 'load in 2011'?
Is there still a 2010 folder around?
If you 'installed' it then the songs should still be there ...

If you are still unable to find them, do a Search in Windows for *.SGU or *.MGU

Frankie,
What I do is to keep my songs in a completely different folder from the \bb one. Then, when I get new versions of BIAB, I simply navigate to that folder. It's a whole heap easier. It also makes backing up of the songs much easier because I don't have to sort through all the BIAB files and work out what's mine and what's the program.

Please say you didn't keep your songs in the bb folder. I got sick for you just thinking they may all be lost do to some fluke. I'm so paranoid I have 4 copies of my 200+ songs.

It really would be a fluke if any songs were lost. As Bob said above, the installation should not affect your songs.

everytime I did a song I clicked on "save as" but cant find them now.Frankie

I just installed 2011 biab as per instructions I keep the HD plugged in to the usb Frankie

matt did the search and found 2 but when I click to play on comes a midi and not my song which was recorded with the real tracks.Its fortunate that I only recorded a few about 6 and saved at least 4 on my DAW.But Ive contacted PG to find out why this happened.Frankie

Open another song, and use 'Save As' again, (don't actually save it)
Just use the procedure to see where the songs got saved to. You should be able to backtrack it that way.
When you click Save As look and see what drive and folder they are getting saved to.
AND what format they are getting saved as.
When you use save as it's possible to save just the mid file etc.

Hi Rharv it saves into real tracks-demos.I did have the songs saved in there but all that I can see now are the rt,s for 2011.Its nearly 11pm here in the uk so Im off to bed.Hopefully will get a reply from pg tomorrow but thanks for your help and all the others who gave me input Cheers Frankie

If all you hear is Realtracks (audio) you probably need to change your midi device in prefs
Might as well check the audio too, make sure that device is the 'correct' one vs windows generic driver.
(thats' an odd place to save to)

Not such an odd place if you were previously browsing the real tracks demos. When you do a save-as it will go to the last directory accessed in the BIAB session.
You really need to take note of the path when saving a file.

Hit the button that has a folder with a heart on it. It's on the main 'rail' of buttons. That keeps track of all the folders you have used with songs in them. I have folders of all kinds xmas, xmas1, jazz, country, irish, english, scottish, etc. and on and on....
When you choose one of those folders Band in a Box will load songs from that one until you change folders.
