Got it working, using Percy's suggestion of copying chord and part markers over to a new song. Then I just re imported the audio file. Had to manually jot down the tempo which ACW figured out and enter it, and did it over making sure "Stretch" wasn't checked.
It was in time, but not lining up. Every DAW works differently, and pgmusic has features buried all over the place. It took a while to figure out how to slide the audio. Just go to edit audio window, select all, and Ctrl Left and drag. You've got beats above you so you can visually line it up, but it doesn't show a ghost image.
So I don't know what happened on the original ACW run, but ACW seems much more stable than when it first came out. Same for Realband.
Finally, I have found a cool signature with sufficiently dry humor.
