Hi Gang, There's a style I like. By default/design, the demo's style does not contain any drums. As I learn and grow here, I wanted to try and accomplish a little something. I'm aware of the Ol' Faithful F5 key. I can pick drums there. What I can't seem to tweak just right is the ability to place them starting at bar X and play until bar Y. I have a sneaking suspicion that I may have to choose the bar AFTER I want the drums to stop and/or change to hit F5 again, and then Clear RD from there...not sure. I was able to utilize/command 3 different drum styles at will, but hitting a bump when trying to define start bars. I'd like the drums to rest/sit out for 4 bars (for ex), then come in 5-8, then switch grooves 9-16 etc...then sit out for 4 etc. Thanks in advance...

There are some Trading 4s kits and styles that may do what you want. Check out the JAZFOURS style for start.

Hi Rachael,
I hear you. Yet, I don't want to be limited to trading 4's.
I need to figure out a way to make things happen the way the song dictates as constructed.
Being boxed in is no fun...though I do understand the concept.

You might find Chord Options does what you want. Hit Alt-F5 instead of F5 and you can rest the drums (or any of the instruments). Enter another (or the same) chord in a later bar to stop the rest.

Do you know about defining rests when specifying the chord? This can be used down to the beat rather than the measure as the F5. If you don't know of it yet, right click on a measure and choose Chord Settings. There you will have control over which instruments rest on which beats.
