There seem to be a variety of factors that Windows uses to determine whether to put a shield on the icon. But I think that mainly it indicates there will be a User Account Control prompt when you run the program. In other words, the program requires administrator privileges.

Maybe you had set the RealBand program to run as administrator (right-click-properties | Compatibility | Privilege level). See if unchecking that box makes the shield go away. Also, keep in mind you'll have to reboot your computer for new UAC settings to take affect...

But in any case, the shield doesn't mean there's a problem, it's just a standard symbol put there sometimes by Windows Vista / 7.
