In RB you CAN generate a track with a soloist... which isn't exactly the same as a melody. You could generate part of the song, then cut and paste to achieve a recurring motif throughout the entire song.
if you are using only real/audio tracks and you want to add a harmony to an audio track that was generated by one of the soloists (or played by yourself) , you might try the new AUDIO HARMONY feature.
