I do not think there is any 'privileges' question here. You are just making a backup. My opinion is not official, of course.

The RaalTracks in 2011 are only 1/3 the size of the prior versions. My suggestion would be to install 2011 on the older drive without installing the RealTracks, run the Erase +/- command to 'shrink' the RealTracks, and then copy the files from the new drive. That way, you won't overflow the space on the old drive. This is what I did.
