Well its here. I fired it up, and yes, it does sound better than 2010.5! My old HD was making all
kinds of noise when started, but this new one is dead quiet. I purchased a 1.5TB WD MyBook, to serve as
my working copy. to transfer BIAB to. All I could get was a Mac version, so
I had to reformat for Windows XP, SP2. It has both a fw800 &/or USB connection. I tried using Nortons
Ghost to copy the BIAB drive to the MyBook drive, but it would never complete the copy due to file
errors (so it said) in the BIAB HD. I first tried to just copy and paste, but the size of the transfer
kept crashing the fw800 connection. I tried with USB also, and every time it failed. I am using Disk Manager to reformat one more time before the WD goes back for a Seagate FreeAgent. It looks like I could get by with a 1TB due to smaller file size on the 2011 version. Is the best way just to copy and paste, a few folders
at a time, to make the new copy? Can someone give me a step by step of the best way?

BTW, BIAB, nice job on 2011 it sounds great.

Hello J8Stringer,

Yes, 1TB would be fine. You *should* be able to simply copy and paste. First, make sure that the power supplies for both your drives are firmly connected. Another tip - if you happen to have set hidden or protected files to be visible in Windows (control panel | folder options...), don't select these files when copying. (e.g. 'recycle bin', 'system volume information').

Note that this will take quite a while, especially if you are copying from one USB connected drive to another.

Here is an alternative to copy and pasting in Windows Explorer, if that is causing you problems for whatever reason:

1. Verify what drive letters the source and destination drives are. For example they might be G: and H:

2. Open a DOS window. On Windows 7 you can do this by clicking on the start menu and typing cmd in the search box.

3. Type the following and press <enter>. But replace "G" with whatever your source drive is, and "H" with your destination drive letter.
xcopy G:\* H:\ /E

The spaces don't show up well here. That is: xcopy <space> G:\* <space> H:\ <space> /E

-"/E" tells it to copy directories and subdirectories.

-for more information about the xcopy command, you can type:
help xcopy

-to cancel the operation, you can type ctrl+C

One more idea
If possible, don't use two USB connections right next to each other. Try to find two that look like they are not 'shared'.
Not likely the problem, but ya never know.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
