SUCCESS!! Without going into to much detail this effort worked out perfectly. There are a few errors (my typing) which I needed to correct in the BIAB track shown above. I was able to "hear" these errors once I generated the BIAB soloist and brought them into my DAW to play in sync with the backing tracks from SMP. Yes, very nicely in 6/8 sync over the entire backing. It was well worth the effort.

Wow, Bob, I haven't thought about or listened to Billy Eckstine in decades! He used to do late-night back when TV cut off at 1:00 AM. Great memory you've got! Thanks for the good review, you're always very kind and I appreciate it!!

Very surprized to see this 1 year old tread reposted here. I am not sure what Musocitys intenion was in posting this originally. Fact is I don't think many of us ever did. He was out there! But Rob, you don't need any "scripting knowledge" to do what is being shown in all those clips from SMP. Those are just an illustrations of what SMP can do. I was talking the Jonathan, who is SMP developer just this morning (...what a name dropper crazy) . He is still very active and interested in further developing and improving SMP. I am working with him on some ideas whereby SMP and BIAB will communicate better with the transfer of files. There are currently "accuracy" issues which we think can be resolved at the SMP end.

Shakuhachi is just about my favorite World instrument, so I knew I was going to like this one, I don't think the sample sounded as realistic as BIAB's RT, but it is still pretty good. Great job with this piece, Mario, one of your best!

Right out of the gate, I loved those drums. Guitar was great, too, but I agree with Chay that it could've been louder in the mix. Great job, Mario!

Thanks! That’s a great reminder, Misha. I’ve used Intel’s driver checker many times but not in around three years. I just plain forgot. I hope you will remind me in another three years😎 I have also just upgraded equipment and recycled the Presonus Studio 192 to a backup location in favor of a Presonus HD8.

Brilliant instrumentation again, and this time around I currently 100% relate to the lyrics! I'm actually living "I think it’s my heartbeat / Or maybe it’s hers / It could be the breakthrough / Or whatever occurs" etc! Verse 1 says it all at the moment! laugh

There are as many dimensions are there are songs. Categories are - to me - most useful when trying to think of what sort of approach would be best for the song. But with pop, it's more often simple groove that works. Doctor My Eyes is very much root-centric, but it still stands out as a great bass part - driving rhythm, and then arpeggios that fit just right by Leland Sklar. Dan Peek's bass runs on Tin Man that connect the chords on the chorus - analytically simple, but memorable and perfect for the song. George Ford's bass filling the gaps in On The Border is another bit of simple playing that just works. Nick Lowe's funky bass and octave walk-ups on I Love The Sound of Breaking Glass. Yeah, all my examples are over fifty years old... laugh

Love this song and treatment. I do a lot of character voices - 32 on one tape I did for a beloved back in 1980 - and one character I created in 74 is called Swampbucket José, a near-in, downloose and intasight cowboy - and he'd probably comment something like this: "If any hootowl, bushwhacking, sidewinding outlaw was to say anythin' disheartening 'bout this song, well I theorise that in ma opinion I calculate that I think that I have a high-pothesis that that would make no nevermind on account that it's ma kind of music!" This is him:

It would be good to hear more of your journey. In any case, this piece shows one doesn’t have to ‘shred’ to come up with the goods. Tuneful, cleanly played, and full of all the techniques of good lead guitar. Andrew
Thanks, Andrew. I spent most of my life as an acoustic guitar guy. And mainly a songwriter - thus the acoustic. I played in bars from the time I was 17 - sometimes as a solo act, but often as a duo. In that case, I played "some lead parts" when required - copying what was on the record - like the acoustic leads for Jim Croce songs. (It was all singer-songwriter stuff with a heavy emphasis on the songwriter part - John Prine, James Taylor, Steve Goodman, Jim Croce, Jackson Browne, etc....) So not a lot of hard leads. Along the way, I would occasionally attempt to figure out the lead guitar thing, but that always ended in abject failure. I have owned a banjo, a mandolin, a fiddle, a bass, a synth and a digital piano for many years (40+). I could play them well enough to add to an occasional demo - Real Simple stuff - short passages. Real Simple. Not "a player". About 2 years ago, I decided to (once again) try to learn to be a better piano player. Mainly to use as a "songwriter tool". I had tried a number of time before. Playing from music books, watching YouTube stuff. It never stuck. But this time I decided to "figure it out myself". Because that is how I learned to play acoustic guitar. And I figured it out. I can now play piano. Well enough to write with, well enough to use in my recordings (as the main track). Well enough that I bought an expensive, top-of-the-line Yamaha digital. The lead guitar stuff started last year when I spent a long night learning the 5 pentatonic patterns. If that failed, I had made a pledge to NEVER try again. But, that took. I have since "figured it out myself" again - seeing the fretboard MY way (I seldom use those original 5 patterns - they have become secondary or less) Once I had done that, I realized it would easily translate to playing bass. That worked so well I ended up buying a new bass and a new bass amp. Then one night - after David Cuny said "I see you have a mandolin" - I thought I would take THAT off the wall - where it has been sitting for 30 years pretty much untouched. After changing the strings on it - for the first time - I learned that well enough that I ended up buying a new mandolin (it's a beauty!). Wish I had done all of this 50 years ago. But it's not a bad idea to learn new instruments at 70. Might help stave off the inevitable decline.... I think it beats learning how to write better prompts to get AI to do it for ya... That's the journey, so far.

Thanks, Jeff! Just checked it out and it works properly. Any word on the "Install" button in the dialog The flyover help says it decompresses files that were delivered in a compressed format (presumably WMA) to WAV files. Obviously, I don't want to convert from WMA to WAV (or I'll fill up my hard drive) and BIAB has run WMA natively for many years now. Seems like a holdover from when RealDrums/RealTracks were first introduced (2007/2008 or so) and had to be WAV files.

I tried changing the guitars to Realtracks. None will play except one of them, for a couple bars in the chorus.
Notes, he is trying to use a Real Track! Midi plays fine with new RS, but does not swap the midi for RTs (which it should. right?). When I then try to substitute a single RT for piano, the Piano track after generation is blank. [Linked Image]
