The Cantina

This was a five minuet write.
Comments invited.
Rob

https://soundcloud.com/ironbarkbob/the-cantina

Down in the Cantina sunlight bathes the walls.
Where the desert cactus sprawls In the Cantina.
Mariachi music plays you could laze away your days.
Just forget the city haze.In the Cantina.

Oh man you should have see her.
I was sitting nearer.
Holding my Margarita in the Cantina.

Bridge

Down in the Cantina where the kiotes call to me.
There's flamenco on the breeze in the Cantina.
Now I'm in the airport cue not a cactus in my view.
I'm sorry to be leaving the Cantina.

Oh man you should have see her.
I was sitting nearer.
Holding my Margarita in the Cantina.

Though my Margaritas with me she traveling duty free.
I'm taking her away from the Cantina.
Far well to those desert sands I've come away a different man
Yes I know I'll always miss the Cantina.

Oh man you should have see her.
I was sitting nearer.
Holding my margarita in the Cantina.

Hi Bob

you also have the voice like Johnny Cash!!

The song remember me the Bob Dylan's style in the Lp
"Pat Garret & Billy the kid" (cantina theme)

Great work.

Hello.

Hi Bob. Nice relaxed song there.
Would have taken me a week at least!
Your voice and style always make me think of Marty Robbins.
Cheers.

Great to have something with a very unique South American/Mexican feel. Really worked nice.

Hello Trevor.
I started this song with one individual track at a time.
The result was what you hear.
Normally I would steer away from this genre, thought it was worth the experiment.

Nice southwestern Marty Robbins groove and sound
you have going here. Very cool and vivid imagery
in the lyric. I do have to say that had I read the
lyric before listening I wouldn't have known that a
kiote was a coyote smile The mix sounds just right
on the monitors for my ears and taste. You definitely
have a good feel for different genres. Fun isn't it?!

Very nice listen!!

long to remember my PG Music password.

Nice song Rob!

When you say this took 5 minutes, that doesn't include the time it took to write the lyrics, does it?

But, whether it does or not, the ability to crank out good songs quickly is a pretty good indication of your comfort level with the software, and a pretty good testimony to BIAB as a rapid development system!

On top of all the things I always like about your songs (your voice in particular) I liked the way you wrote the lyrics to suggest that Margarita might be a woman instead of a drink. Every time you mention "Margarita" the context supports both interpretations. I think that sort of thing adds a lot to any song.

The song is straight-forward, and also a little bit obscure. It Keeps the audience wondering if you might mean something besides what you appear to be saying. wink

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!

Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review

Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
