Hello everybody,

Here's our contribution to Joanne's project.

SAVANNAH (Rhino Project)

Hope you like it, any comments are welcome.

Song specifics:
Style is BACH_1.STY (Bach 1 Classical Piano)
RealTracks in song: 1007:Piano, Acoustic, Solo-Accompaniment, PopFlowing Ev 120

Lyrics:

A vision of you wandering the fields
You'd never ever worry, just living it for free
Raise your child, provide her every need
When everything seems silent
Everything feels real

A sudden cry of thunder
Kills the light of day
And the forest wheeps
as the babies die
It's haunting me

Savannah.....

Disgraced by men disgraced by poisoned minds
For whom life means so little, for whom there's only greed
A cruel excuse for all your human needs
I bet you hold your silence
I bet you hold your peace

When hunters cold as iron
spread death and pain
Trampling nature's grounds
in a no man's land
As far as they can see

Poachers cold as iron
cause death and pain
While the forest weeps
They'll degrade themselves
By killing babies

Savannah.....

I was half-expecting Elton after that sweet piano opening:)

Love the melody. It's just right for the topic.

Excellent write and production and top-shelf vocals - as usual.

This is just wonderful. Well up to your normal very high standards. How on earth do you manage to dig up public domain footage like this? The vocals are outstanding and Anne-Marie's subtle undercurrent of harmony make a great production.

For those who don't understand how talented these two are, this song was written, recorded and produced in about 4 days!. AND a video to boot. Now that is something to aspire to!

Hey you two, great video and audio production. Anybody
who that has any doubt about how a video can enhance a lyric
should watch this.

Thanks for applying you high production values and creativity
to this cause.

We really like what you did.

Rob and Anne-Marie,

Wonderful. Excellent write. A strong lyric against a strong melody.

I'm a big fan of the solo piano and vocal type production. This is a great treatment for this song. Your vocals are always good - this is your best - filled with passion.

Hi Scott,

Let me take a wild guess, after the piano intro you were expecting to hear......Daniel? grin
You're definitely right, I had that Elton feeling all along while writing this one.
I think this is one of the best RTs to use for this type of song.

Thanks for your comment!

Rob

Hi Joanne,

Yes, we were lucky to be able to use the footage. Anne-Marie is very good at digging it up from the Internet, and editing it next.
We are happy that you like the song. It's a very cool project and we really hope that you'll find enough sponsors.

Rob

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,

Definitely a composition to be proud of. The piano/vocals/video combination is very powerful indeed. I can't believe that it all happened in 4 days! That's pretty incredible. You've both shown us yet another way of looking at these magnificent animals.

What a great audio-visual journey!

All the best,
Noel

Thank you Floyd,

we liked this specific piano RT for the song.
We've tried a couple of others, including some of the MIDI pianos, played with the DXI Forte (which sometimes is even better than RTs).
These solo accompaniment pianos give lots of room for the vocals.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!

Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review

Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
