Two Worlds

Last april this was all over the news in the Netherlands:

"A top official working at the Dutch Central Bank was fired after her secret double life as a dominatrix prostitute was uncovered.
The woman, known only by her ‘professional’ name Conchita van der Waal offered a range of sexual services at a rate of €450.
Dutch Central Bank officials fired their employee, whose real name has not been released, after they were alerted to her double life. After a Dutch magazine broke the story, the bank confirmed that it had fired the woman over ‘integrity issues’.
Prostitution in Holland is legal although workers at the Dutch Central Bank are not allowed to engage in any activities which could bring the institution into disrepute such as ‘indecent behaviour’ ".

Inspired by this article we wrote "Two Worlds", although we slightly adjusted the story.

Wonderful duet! Great handling of subject matter
via the fine write and vocals. The Dobro was
quite a pleasant surprise as was the Gone
With Wind poster that floated by!

As we've come to expect both the audio and
video production are superb.

You two are indeed a class act!

Liked the orchestral elements with the timpani. Interesting use of dobro during the break.
Vocals and harmonies as usual are excellent.

I'll echo the class act part! The production really drives the song, and you are great at the duet vocals! I also liked the dobro break - the little melody that comes just before it might be better served by a real xylophone or celeste as opposed to the synth sound, but that's just my ear. Keep it up - another great listen!

Very pleasant song!! Harmonies, vocals, and arrangement are great. You guys are indeed at the top of your game with production. As to the inspiration, I think prostitutes should not allow central bankers in their midst. Central bankers, after all, commit much greater sins! Beautiful job on this! Take care. Greg

I always look forward to what you're writing and recording. And this does not disappoint!

I really like your sense of chord progression and the quality of your production and instrument selection.

Thank you J & B,

About the subject:
The general idea here in Holland is that as long as her private life didn't cloud her performance at work, she should be free to do whatever she wanted.
Pretty much our opinion too.
The Resonator Guitar was Anne-Marie's idea.

Thanks for your very nice comment.

Hi Peter,

Thank you!
About the Timpani: this is a very small soundfont.
It was lots of fun to use the samples with our midi keyboard and placing them at specific moments in the song.

Excellent work; sad story.

I like best Anne-Marie's voice in this song.
The recording and the mixing are perfect, very professional.

Unusual instruments that goes very well in the song.

This is a solid write. Good job on the production and video.

I thought the production was quite unique. It's similar in subject matter to a song I recently completed and hope to post soon. It will be fun to see how they compare.

Very nice write and production. Nobody has mentioned the ticking (clock) sound effect that I think added a lot to the song. Yes, the dobro was a surprise but fit right in.

I liked the how Rob sings, Anne-Marie sings, then you both together.

A very dramatic production.

It is amazing what you have done with this rather nasty story! Loved the video images. They pulled the whole song together beautifully. Good job

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
