Let Tom Sing Instead Hi all, I started this song with vocals on 9/11/2012 and played around with heavy Melodyne effects but never liked it. On 1/10/2013 I rearranged it as an instrumental and totally forgot about it. Now I rediscovered it, made some smaller changes and a final mix. Originally it was called “Sing” but I changed it to “Let Tom Sing Instead” referring to the sax tracks by Tom Keenlyside I used to build up the melody. Drums: EZ Drummer RTs used: RT514_Bass,El,Funk Slap Ev100 RT1435_Gtr,El,Rh,JzFnkGrvChord110 RT1437_Piano,El,JazzFunkGroovin 110 RT716_Sax, Tenor, Soloist Rock Boogie Ev 160 (Bluesy) Tom Keenlyside RT1651_Gitarre,El,Sol JzFnkEv110blz I added some Garritan Organ and some Session Horns. I hope you like it. Comments appreciated. Guenter

Overflowing of good power Guenter !!! And a lot of work on the soloist tracks, I guess. Pascal

Tom sang it well!! Really cool track. That solo guitar is amazing, and it fits like a glove. Really a great job putting all this together into a seamless, flawless piece of music!! Take care. Greg

Guenter,
Good listening. Energetic. Blistering fast...
Excellent mix (as always). Each instrument stands on it's own.
The solo guitar is interesting. Picking up the tempo turned it into a good rock soloist - never considered that one before... The horns sound good. The bass is cool.
I always wonder about choosing EZDrummer over a RealDrum. Any reason for that? Do you still use it? Do you like it?
Enjoyed.

Holy smoke! That was, well, smokin'!
I would love to have watched you put this together. You are pushing BiaB to the limit and we are enjoying being along for the ride.
Simply amazing.

Ha! Guenter. The title of this one got me before I even listened. I just did a gig at a charity event and all everybody wanted was for "Tom to sing instead". Eventually I packed up my stuff and let "Tom" take over...
Wonderful use of Band in a Box. Great stuff!

Hi Floyd, thanks a lot for your continuous support. I always wonder about choosing EZDrummer over a RealDrum. Any reason for that? Do you still use it? Do you like it?
This song's drums are nearly 4 years old. Meanwhile I've mostly used RealDrums due to laziness. It depends on what you want to do. The advantage of EZDrummer is that you can edit every single note. In this song there is a 2 bar interlude which couldn't be done with RealDrums. Guenter

Wow that was fast!!!
I would have let the guitar come in after a short into..around the 7 second mark.. it kinda took me in a surprising way that the guitar started wide open from the first note.
That's some cool prog jazz stuff going on there.... love that bass. and the drums are holding it together nicely. sweet riffs and fills.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks
MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:
There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:
1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!
Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review
Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!
"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
