Hello Friends,

Here's a little blues rock ditty that David Snyder and I co-wrote. David was on the road so I mixed it. First time I've used Neutron Elements.

It was great working with David. He is so talented and easy to work with. It's been such a long time since I've done a collab or posted anything new on here. Thank you David! Virtual hugs.

Comments welcome. Hope you enjoy.

I Don't Wanna Think About You

Written with BIAB/RB. Mixed with Reaper.
RTs : GTR 2624, Bass 1546, Drums Blues Rock Shuffle, Organ 2692, E Piano 1904.
Guitar David Snyder. Vocals/harmonies Josie Beck.

Well done all round on this to you both! Terrific vocal, Josie ( love the way you took the backing down for the verse midway) and the harmonies on the chorus sound great.
Catchy and very enjoyable- a cool welcome back shuffle.

Thank you very much Robert. I appreciate that very much. Gotta give David the credit for taking the backing down - his idea.
So happy you enjoyed it.

I completely misread this title as, "I don't want to think about you David Snyder". Glad to see that it was just a collab and not a stab! laugh Had a good laugh at myself, but my grin only got wider when I heard the song. Absolutely fantastic you guys!

Josie & David,

Nice job on this. The laid-back feel is easy to get lost in. A cool BAND.

Josie, great to see you getting back to your music. Good job on the mix. The vocal is engaging. The arrangement keeps your ear involve throughout. Cool background vocals.

Enjoyed.

Hi Josie & David,

Great song! And the delivery is perfect. The vocal is super and the band is great - good choice of instruments. Love the variations on the background tracks.

And yes, David is a great guy. Haver spoken with him on the phone a time or two and he's nothing but a class act all the way. I feel as though I'm bragging when I saw that!

Your vocal is stand out ... strong and edgy yet with tempered edge.

Totally loved it. Three thumbs up (I guess I didn't mention that physical weirdness!)

Alan

Well to Ember's point it was originally titled "I Don't Want to Think About You David Snyder" but I begged Josie to change that.

Kidding!!!!!!! smile

Seriously though, Josie was so delightful to work with on this--I just scribbled out some lyrics and tossed a few guitar licks over the fence and the next thing I knew she was done and I was listening to it in the car in the Redwoods National Park and it sounded great.

She did like the whole thing, and I think her selection of groove, instruments, feeling, vocals, mix, everything was just perfect and totally pro. It sounds so much like the artist that she is. The woman has her groove on big time here in my opinion. Radio ready as they say.

I think Josie is starting to get a little dangerous with her new plug-ins people.

Watch out.

We are always down with a blues shuffle!

This is a fine re-entry to the forum.

It has a fun laid back and slinky vibe.

Nice vocal performances and we suspect you put some time into the production and it all paid off!

Congrats...hope for another soon.

Josie, you did a fantastic job singing this as well as producing and excellent mix. Everything is perfect!

You both should be very proud of this one.

This is a keeper.

Ps - Josie, it is great hearing you sing again, welcome back. Plus you can back with a killer performance!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!

Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review

Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
