When I select a style with 6/8th time:

-all styles are "swing"
-most styles mention the word "jig"
-no styles mention the word "march"
-there are 4 groups of 3 dotted lines so 12 dotted lines altogether.
Does each dotted line represent an 8th note or a 16th note?

I am trying to enter "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" and getting very confused.

Lesley,

Try a StylePicker search using the term "march" for the filter. I found several marches, all are midi and none are 6/8 time.

I also filtered using the song name. The StylePicker recognized the song and suggested a RealTracks folk style.

But all the sheet music I can find for "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" is in 6/8 time.

You could write it in 4/4 and play it as triplets. However, yes, the song is definitely written in 6/8. What about choosing a Celtic style and then changing some instruments (create your own version of a style)?

I'm sorry but I don't have a different answer for you as I play by ear. Perhaps other users have other thoughts. frown

Lesley,

Here's a thread that might also help with additional understanding about BIAB and 6/8.

.
Try picking the _FLKSWAG style form the style picker.

Or try filtering the Stylepicker for "Slipjig" styles.

These might make a good starting point. I am pretty sure you will want to find another drummer in Realdrums. Also try adding some of the "Slipjig" instruments from the realtracks.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
