Hi folks. I do not usually write pacifist songs, but this one feels like exactly it. English is not my first language, I wrote only about a dozen or so songs in it. Still have long way to go before I feel confident in choice of words and rhymes. Constructive critique is welcomed! I am big boy, I think I can handle it No Fear Mostly BIAB, added some Organ keys and flute. 2474 Bass acoustic, Held EV 85 664: Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm SouthernRock 85 RealDrums-FunkyGroovin70s RealDrums-NashvilleBrushesEasyBluegrass 378: Guitar Acoustic Strumming, Double time EV88 1887: Midi Piano Solo-Acompaniment CountryPopJohn 2543 : Pedal Steel, Background ModernCrossover SW16 Fuzzy morning morning, rain is drumming on my windows, Trees are loosing last of stubborn leaves Wind is whistling, playing limbo Then it hides away like Gypsy thief. Feeling numb from tremor of distant wars, We forgot how to shed a tear Watching hawk sharpening it's claws I don't want my child to live in fear Snowflakes falling from the sky Leaving shiny diamonds in your hair Sleeping bear seeing beautiful dreams Snuffling loudly in his lair. Feeling numb from tremor of distant wars, We forgot how to shed a tear.. Watching hawk sharpening it's claws I don't want my child to live in fear. Sun is melting lazy ice, filling creeks and hungry rivers. Washing off all winter lies Water flaws and disappears I don't want to feel tremor of distant wars, I just want to shed all happy tears I don't want to see the fight of hawks, I don't want my child to live in fear.

That was great. You really have a great voice and it shines through the mix, but not overpowering.
What did you use for flute? (I'm always looking for good flute sounds - yours had a slight Ian Anderson edge to it).
There are a couple of typos in your lyrics, if you are interested.
The main thing I would do is maybe equalize the drums little bit - they sounded a little distant from the mix - just to blend them in a little better.
But otherwise, a great song (from my perspective).

John, Rayc Thank you! Will try to mix in drums better. You are right, they are a bit further than they need to be. I had a bit of a hiccup with exporting them, but Charlie F. saved the day. The flute that I used is an older Tyros (Yamaha) based SF2 that I tweaked somewhat. For some reason, Yamaha flutes sound better to me even on their ancient gear than some modern wind Vst's. Maybe it is just a habit Rayc, thank you for your help with lyrics! That was super edit! Mike.

Nice track! Good melody and I really like your accent. Do you mind revealing which country you are from?

Will, Thank you!
I was born in Latvia of Russian/Ukrainian heritage. Most of my life lived in US. Say hi to Denmark. I visited beautiful Copenhagen 20 years ago, before Malmo bridge was opened.
Best regards, Misha.

Hi Misha,
Wow.. I wouldn't have guessed that ... just show how bad I am with languages and accents. :-)
Now about the music and the mixing: you have improved A LOT compared with your former track in this forum... actually you have improved so much that I start to wonder if your last track was some kind of a gimmick to get us to react... :-)

Will, LOL! I am not that vicious I gained a lot of knowledge in the past couple of weeks about mixing. I am still far behind the wagon, but at least I see the tracks now. Shame on me that I did not find this forum sooner. Some really nice and helpful people are here.

Loved the poetic and visual lyric. Your voice is very nice and fits this type of song well. The backing is very nicely put-together and blends well with the vocals, imo.
And a message I can get behind.

Some very good writing here, Mike! I certainly like the message.
Your mixing skills are getting better!
I agree with the other comments about the drums, the kick especially should be louder. I know that you have Neutron 2, try and use it on the drum track. You will find that neutron comes with quite a few presets for use on a drum track, and you should find a couple that should work well with maybe some minor tweaks.
But good song, enjoyed the listen!

Misha,
I like this - great song and sound. You have a Bob Dylan "Lay Lady Lay" quality to your voice.
Good stuff!

Good stuff, Misha. A very professional, clear-sounding production indeed. Personally I would have liked the drums to have stayed on the side stick and not moved to the snare, which sounded intrusive to me when they came in. That's just me. The lyrics and their delivery were fine, bit I'd tweak the pitch of the note at 1:44 with something like Melodyne.

This is some serious support team! Thank you all for kind feedback! Tangmo, Thank you! I find that either I make up lyrical things such as this or satirical songs. Can't find solid middle just yet. On the other hand, maybe it is for the better, not to solidify things. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dave, Thank you! Neutron became my #1 tool. I do have 1 (I promise one) question about it, I will send you PM later today. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bob, Thank you! That is a generous compliment Dylan is a mountain, I am just a small stone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Graham, thank you! I listened to your "Merle Musette" a few times, but not ready with feedback yet. I wanted to give a listen to my in-law. He is bayan (Russian button accordion) player and professor of music. I wanted to see if our thoughts are similar on it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Deryk, thank you! It is all about improving. Maybe not as fast as I would like it to be. But me joining this forum upped the speed a bit . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ John, thank you! Drums are a bit wierd on it. I know. I will try to improve it. Will try to re-write this tune in the next week or so. It is interesting that you noted 1:44. I can sing it in tune, but for some reason decided to leave this as is. Sort of "sick" phrase. My wife had exact same opinion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ember, Thank you! Best regards, Misha.

Misha,
I really like this A LOT.
A very classic song, like a great hit from the past.
Very Jethro Tull.
Lovely.
