It's only rock and roll.

I CAN ALMOST SEE THE LIGHT
By David Snyder

V1

Each time I see the battlefield
Where hate and lies refuse to yield
I wonder how the word will end
But then a song breaks in my heart
And I know just where to start
Faith is where it all begins

CH

And oh I’m climbing up this wall
Hold my hand so I don’t fall
I’m on my way to paradise
I can almost see the light

V2

All these lies that we’ve been told
Were born in darkness long ago
By the enemy of all our hearts
There is one truth under the sun
All God’s children are as one
That’s where the revelation starts

CH

And so we’re climbing up this wall
We’re holding hands so we don’t fall
We’re on our way to paradise
I can almost see the light
Kiss my lips and close your eyes
I refute the devil’s lies
Bang the drums and hold me tight
I can almost see the light

Bridge:

And all I have is rock and roll
But that has always saved my soul
And my heart is still on fire
I refuse to make it cold
I will not be bought and sold
I refute all death and sin
I refuse to let hate win
I refuse to let hate win

Ch:

And oh I’m climbing up this wall
Hold my hand so I don’t fall
I’m on my way to paradise
I can almost see the light

David Synder testifies! grin

I enjoyed the song.

The vocal at the beginning of the chorus seems a bit overwhelmed by the the instruments... But that's rock and roll, right? wink

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

David,
I am not the right guy to comment on spiritual part but, musically this was excellent! It felt like you put a lot of energy in this. Guitars are great. Mix and production is pro level.

Thank you for sharing!

I gotta say David, your masterful selection and employment of RTs and RDs, as well as precisely where and when to have them hold, arpeggiate, or rest, never fails to impress me.

The vocals reach and soar, and your delivery is nothing short of flawless.

Keep it up, friend!

David,

A stunningly good write. A great message.

A truly passionate vocal.

Excellent production. The strummed electric is very effective. Those drums works well. Good mix.

One of your best!

So good.

Nicely done, David smile Definitely some good rock music, and I love your lyrics and vocal delivery here, especially on that chorus. It really cuts and is really memorable. I thought the mix was top notch as well.

Great work and thanks for sharing!

Terrific building arrangement and melody.
The non BIAB elements really liven the track.
I often wonder how much of any given lyric of yours is satire because, as with many things, there're a couple of ways to read things. I did wonder at holding hands while climbing for instance.
In the 1st chorus "And oh..." is buried by that big change to start the section.
David, is the vocal a comp? I ask because there were a few moments that may have been sudden cuts etc.OR it could be the media player being a little glitchy.
I was really drawn to the string arrangement - it emphasized the build really well.
Classic Snyder.

It's only Rock and Roll BUT I LIKE IT!!! Beautiful, inspiring, passionate song, and a wonderful delivery! I love the contrast between verse and chorus with the quick cadence in the mid-range and then the soaring, elongated notes in the chorus.....works perfectly! Really great work!!! Take care. Greg

Really good stuff. Simple delivery in the band in the verses coupled with a hasty delivery in the vocals made for an expectant excitation. When the chorus hit, I could "see" lighters flaring in the crowd, and lots of "swaying". Yeah, I'm a bit tired and sleep-deprived so I might be mildly hallucinating. But, dang it, that's what I saw.

Part of your lyric reminds me of one of my old songs. But that's another tale. Much enjoyed.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
