Wonderful

Here's a change of pace from my last few songs: an upbeat love song. I tried to perform a light vocal instead of my usual bellowing.

Band info:
RT2933 Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking SongwriterFolkSlap
RT683 Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotesPush Ev
RealDrums-PopPromiseEv16
Virtual Guitarist Silk for the sections with arpeggios and the rhythm in the bridge.

Lyrics

What took you so long
I’ve always been here
I gave you my song
You gave up your fear

No longer
resistant
Just a little
hesitant

The night is over and you’re still beautiful
If we had a thousand years,
When all the stars would clear
There’d still be everything wonderful
About you

You shine ever so bright
Empyreal flame
Warm me on a winter’s night
Love me in a summer rain

No longer
resistant
Just a little
hesitant

The night is over and you’re still beautiful
If we had a thousand years,
When all the stars would clear
There’d still be everything wonderful
About you

There’s one thing that I’ve found
I’m never lost when you’re around

The night is over and you’re still beautiful
If we had a thousand years,
When all the stars would clear
There’d still be everything wonderful
About you

Light and catchy- an interesting and successful change of pace - you captured a very clear, warm vocal which shows you can take the db`s down at will and sing anything!
You also write a catchy pop melody which reminds me of 60`s hitmakers Bread.
I like the simple arrangement, especially that Folkslap guitar track ( new to me).

Wonderful!

(who could resist?)

A good positive love song. Good simple production that works well.

Your vocal is really nice. Intimate, with "presence", sits in the mix perfectly - it shines. (the entire mix is well done).

Good job.

I like it! Both the song and the singing drew me in. You have a good voice for any genre. The 'no longer resistant just a little hesitant' section was really good, interesting musically. More of this!

Really liked it!
Especially:
"The night is over and you’re still beautiful"...the harmony and chord movement behind this line..++

These lyric lines, great word choices:
"Warm me on a winter’s night
Love me in a summer rain"

Nice, comfy feel...wonderful!

Scott,
Unexpected, but surely fun! Listens very well. Plein air feel (not sure if it applies to music but that is how I think I hear it). Interesting twists in melody, reminds me of Radiohead in some way. Overall a complete package. Smooth. Enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing.

Enjoyable catchy folky tune with nice chord progression. Wonderful lyrics smile Good singing. The rhythm guitar works very well. Could be a title song for an indie movie.

Lovely, soft voice singing lovely love words. Almost too intimate to listen to.

I enjoyed the somewhat quirky progression--especially how you poved the mixim that repetition legitimizes. Very much enjoyed.

Classic chord progression, but you took it to an unexpected (for me) place, nice!

Nice lyrics, vocal, and mix.

Good song, enjoyed!

That was really pretty, beautifully sung and I liked the slap acoustic guitar RT choice very effective.

Lovely song.

Hi Ezekiel,

A wonderful song and very nicely sung. I like it!
The guitar sounds so intimate. You did a very nice job on this, including that lovely melody!
To my personal taste I prefer your 'normal' voice some more. But don't even think of feeling offended!
That is not how I mean it. If I didn't know your former songs, this one is just a very beautiful song.
But your 'other' voice has more authentic power to me.

A clear voice and clear melody work well with the sentiment. I no fan of guitar slapping but once the band was going it wasn't too loud.
Well done...intro...hmmm, I agree with the Spoon Man.

Cheers

Hi Scott,

This total arrangement was brilliantly pulled off. I've been listening to this very same BIAB style ever since I got it and was wondering how I could fit it into a song. Your "trying" turned into "doing" and doing very well. Maybe grace us with this more often? I enjoyed it, thanks for posting!

"You shine ever so bright
Empyreal flame
Warm me on a winter’s night

Most lovely. One doesn't often hear empyreal in a song smile but it is the perfect word.

Janice immediately pointed out how much she like the way you sang, "The night is over and you’re still beautiful."

Great mix with the vocal...out front in a great way.

Excellent band ... all you need and nothing you don't. THE sweet spot.

Kudos for a fine uplifting love ballad!

Nice tune. I love that acoustic guitar slap. That must be on the newer versions of BIAB. I really need to update from the 2012. Smooth sounds. Good lyrics and melody. Well written chorus. Good work.

Nicely done. I'm not as familiar with the folk style but I really like the guitar slap. I won't nitpick the mix. I think it comes across very nicely. Smooth and again I like the guitar slap. Cheers !!!

Hello Ez ...

what a really nice surprise! I love the simplicity of the song. the chord progression slides from one chord to the next like butter on a warm plate. Your vocal is as gentle as the lyric ... a great pairing of vocal and tracks.

I totally loved it! Great song and delivery. Wishing you the very best. Please be safe ...

Alan

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
