Hi biab's members,
Today I am submitting a movie soundtrack composition. I show that with Biab, I can arrive at different sound spaces than those that we usually meet on this musical platform.
In this style, the chord grid helped me a lot. For the musical ornament, I did not find many midi files apart from the strings. There are layers but we have to rework them in the pianoroll a lot to integrate them. Fortunately, orchestral vsts are present on the market. In this composition, I downloaded several midi piano rhythms and reworked them according to the melody. The drums are integrated at their simplest expression. In my daw studio one, I often asked the vst Biab to experiment with musical phrases with different instruments. Biab is an excellent tool, very flexible and a source of inspiration.
Here I submit this composition to you, hoping you like it. I point out that I used the projectsam vst a lot to make this soundtrack.
If you have the time or the inclination, thank you for giving me a constructive comment so that I can continue to improve.

Thank you in advance to all the advisor members of this nice musical platform.

Lovely soundscape. You certainly seem to have a mastery over BIAB. Yes, this would work perfectly for a movie. Nice job.

Hello jptjptjpt,

I thank you for your passage and your appreciation especially that this soundtrack moves away from the line rock, folk and jazz of this musical platform. But I wanted to show what I could do with this wonderful tool which is Biab.

Very nice work - I agree with jptjptjpt above, this piece does have a movie soundtrack quality to it. Very cinematic. I enjoyed my listen - thanks for sharing!

Dero,

A beautiful score.

Very nice job of having the piano and the strings work in harmony.

The accents from flutes and harp are nicely done. Timpani is cool, too.

The string flurries work.

This kept my ear engaged. It was over before I was ready for it to be...that is a good sign...

Well mixed. Sounds great.

Hello Deryck,

It is an honor that a member of the biab staff listened to one of my songs and appreciated. I therefore take this opportunity to see if new realtracks with quartet could be created in order to attract film music composers who are always looking for new ideas. Since the introduction of biab in the form of vst, more and more composers using other daws buy your product because it is a source of inspiration and if a realtrack does not give complete satisfaction, we recover the midi file and we assign a other instrument. I want to thank you again for the development work you have been doing lately.

Very impressive indeed Dero! I loved listening to that, with the Celtic flourishes it easily made me think, "They ought to remake Robin Hood one more time, and this time get it right! The soundtrack is here ready and waiting!" Well done, a fine piece of work, well crafted.

John

Hello floyd jane

Thank you for stopping by. for this soundtrack, i spent a lot of time trying to make the sentences very harmonic. There are still some imperfections in the choirs (hissing in high-pitched sounds) which I will correct later.

Hello CaptainMoto,

I thank you for your comment. Buy in two buckets, so I will have the opportunity to eat one by your side and enjoy the film too. But I think the intermission may be unusually long, especially since there are not many people in the movie room

Hello BlueAttitude,

I am flattered that you pass on one of my epic songs to comment on it. I try to touch all styles with successes or failures but I wanted to demonstrate that biab is a powerful tool that can help us in all existing styles (except maybe electro where they obviously lack realtracks exploitable). I Thank you for your kindly comment.

Dero,
Very impressive, both in the skills apparent throughout ( well beyond my abilities to comment on any midi creation at this level) and more importantly for me, in the composition.
The space needed for listeners` to feel and imagine in a cinematic score is there along with some surprises ( the celtic influence).
It all works wonderfully well!

BIG sound but could use some more dynamics - and I don't mean getting louder - you do that often and well.
A terrific demo of the midi capacities of yourself and the program.

Hi Dero ...

What a full, luscious sound! The timpanis are used perfectly for the accents when needed. Nice mix of tracks that work well together while, yet, holding their individual strengths and identities. Very anthemic and robust. The only problem I found was it was too short ... but thoroughly enjoyed what you presented.

Wishing you the very best. Take care and be safe ...

Alan

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!

Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review

Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
