Excellent tune and so true! The backing tracks were spot on. Your mix was great as were your vocals, but the lyrics took it over the top for me, they were fantastic.
An excellent song.

Vic,
Very well done tune. I like your vocal on this . . . a bit of a changeup staying in the upper part of your register, or so it sounds to me. Regardless, it really fits with dire straits sounds you have going on, with a Knopfler feel to it. Like that chorus—the “streets” repetition gives it nice structure and good touch on the harmonies there.
Lyrically, really nice write . . . though one curiosity for me: the second line it seems the singer is not living on the streets but observing (“but for the grace of god this could be me”). In the bridge, you say “under the bridge . . . where WE take our turn”. I wasn't quite sure if there was something I'm misunderstood there. Of no consequence really, just curious.
Great sound on this—your usual excellent production!! Nice listen, this one!
All my best,
Deej

Such a lovely, yet sad, song. I love the melody. Your accent (as I hear it) really adds depth to the deep lyrics. The music was right on time. The band shined on this one.

Nice song but that very bright, very forward guitar seems wrong in the verses. Probably just too loud n bright and sitting too close to the vocal.

Especially liked the structure of your chorus, both musically and lyrically. Enjoyed the style and your use of held chords. Great work all the way around!

Hi Vic,
This melody has indeed that recognisable 'Dire Straits' sound in it. Well done! You made a good song with a good band, although it has a worrying subject. I was only asking myself if this nice melody and the subject really match? Probably I would have used a more a subdued melody with these lyrics. But a contrast can work out nice too.
Kind regards, Hans

Good call Deej. Sometimes I don't see the wood for the trees. Changing that line to "where THEY take THEIR turn". Thanks, Vic

Touching lyrics handling many downside aspects of streets. Maybe the tempo is bit too upbeat for the message, but I like the Mark Knopfler feel of the band and the vocals.

Hi Ray. I assume you mean the electric rhythm guitar. Maybe I'll tone it down a tad. Thanks for looking.

Hi Vicarn,
Kind of a Springsteen/Tom Petty vibe from this song. Nice guitar work and some really cool vocals/harmonies...
Thanks for posting. Cool song...

Thanks Hans. Glad you liked it. To be honest, I didn't think the melody was that strong though. Only three notes in line one and four in line two.
Thanks for taking the time.

Thanks for the comment Janne. Originally it was a little faster in tempo. I didn't want it to get like a dirge. The message is to get away from these situations not to wallow in them.

Lots of truths in those lyrics, an honesty I love. Like the Mark Knopler vibe. Nice!!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks
MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:
There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:
1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
