Trying to catch up on writing some tunes before the end of 2020. This is just some rock and roll. I went all the way back to Real Tracks Set 4 and added some stuff. I am sure the lyrics will be oblique and no one will know what I am talking about.

All The Way Back Home
by David Snyder

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs3/all-the-way-back-home

V1

WHEN YOU’RE FEELING ALONE
AND THINK NOTHING IS REAL
AND THEY’VE STOLEN YOUR FAITH
BUT THEY’VE ASKED YOU TO KNEEL
WHEN THEY’VE BURIED YOUR DREAMS
MOCKED THE SKIN ON YOUR FACE
WHEN THEY'VE MANGLED THE TRUTH
CRIPPLED MERCY AND GRACE

CH

YOU BETTER DRIVE YOUR CAR
ALL THE WAY BACK HOME
YOU BETTER TURN AROUND
YOU LEFT A MUCH BETTER TOWN
YOU LEFT A MUCH BETTER TOWN
ALL THE WAY BACK HOME

V2

WHEN THEY COME FOR YOUR HEART
WHEN THEY COME FOR YOUR SOUL
REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE
REMEMBER WHAT YOU KNOW
AND IF YOU HAVE FIGHT
FIGHT WITH ALL YOU’VE GOT
NEVER SAY WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO SAY
AND DON’T YOU EVER GIVE UP

CH

YOU BETTER DRIVE YOUR CAR
ALL THE WAY BACK HOME
YOU BETTER TURN AROUND
YOU LEFT A MUCH BETTER TOWN
YOU LEFT A MUCH BETTER TOWN
ALL THE WAY BACK HOME

V3

WHEN THE CHILDREN OF DARKNESS
FIGHT THE CHILDREN OF LIGHT
YOU’LL BE CHOOSING A SIDE
ONLY ONE SIDE IS RIGHT
SO WHEN YOU’RE STRANDED AT MIDNIGHT
PUT YOUR HAND ON THE WHEEL
I THINK YOU KNOW WHERE TO GO
AND WHICH KINGDOM IS REAL

CH

YOU BETTER DRIVE YOUR CAR
ALL THE WAY BACK HOME
YOU BETTER TURN AROUND
YOU LEFT A MUCH BETTER TOWN
YOU LEFT A MUCH BETTER TOWN
ALL THE WAY BACK HOME

OK ... I'll get this started.

First, David, great tracks ands mix. I particularly like your drum track. Just enough without being too much. In my opinion, this is one of your very best vocals. Nice use of the horizontal mix ... wide but with no open holes. A relatively small band that sounds full with everything distinct.

I could read 3 or 4 different interpretations into the lyric, confirming your oblique suggestion. What's good about that is everyone can make it mean what relates to his or her time and place of reference. Oblique lyrics often have a charismatic intrigue ... and I like that!

Wishing you the best. Hope you and yours have a fantastic Christmas. Wishing you nothing but the very best ...

Alan

David,

MAN! That BAND is PERFECT for your lyric and vocal.
Like it was created just for you. Or you picked those guys personally.

An excellent write.

Mix sounds good.

One of your best vocals. Confident and comfortable and immediate.

Good music, Mr Snyder.

Really awesome tune! This took me back when me and my friends would just throw on tunes and drive aimlessly around town together in our small town we grew up in. Thanks for sharing!

Nice uplifting song, with enough generalities that it could apply to virtually anything. Excellent pop writing! laugh

Sounds great in my headphones.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks Floyd Buddy!

Yes, I know four of the musicians on a very intimate basis, but none of them as much as I would like to.

They still confuse me daily.

David, This sounds really good. The drums especially sound good. Good write with a melodic chorus. Well sung with conviction and very much enjoyed, Tom

Love the driving acoustic guitar, David, as well as the whole sound. Excellent impassioned vocal. The lyrics feel personal yet leave plenty of room for interpretation (the best kind, in my opinion). Another winner.

Leon
