Lovely composition and guitar performances. Nice tone on the guitars...sax seemed a bit low to my old ears A fine listen over morning coffee! J&B

Hi Ghostgum,
It's a very pleasant instrumental music that you offer us. I really like the sound of your guitar. Everything is well mixed and spatialized. Well done.

Darned it, Derochette used "pleasant" before I did. Because that's exactly what it is. Nice backing, nice leads. I agree with J&B that the sax seems a bit in the background, but then, I've erred the other way before, so you made a better choice than I did! Doesn't get much more mellow than that!

Thanks, J&B. I have taken your astute observations on board. The revised version has beefed-up sax (+4db). I have also redesigned the intro (changed the melody line and replaced the harmonica with a grand piano). Here 'tis: https://soundcloud.com/user-427542889/firelight-fantasy-1/s-4y1ZlRsAqQi

Thanks, dcuny. You're on the same wavelength as J&B! I trust the alterations I've made have hit the mark. The revised version has beefed-up sax (+4db). I have also redesigned the intro (changed the melody line and replaced the harmonica with a grand piano). Here 'tis: https://soundcloud.com/user-427542889/firelight-fantasy-1/s-4y1ZlRsAqQi

Hrm... The version I listened to has what appears to be a harmonica/accordion in the intro, and the sax is still not that upfront. But it's still really pretty!

Clean, fresh delivery.
Gently sentimental, and the more I listened, the more I was absorbed by the quality. Simplistically perfect, (that's meant as a genuine compliment).
Everything fits together perfectly.

That motif you're playing on guitar is gorgeous! Stayed in my head in a really nice way. The whole thing was good. Nice job.

Thanks, TuneMonger. I never ceased to be amazed how when you add a chord progression to the BIAM real tracks a motif or an accompaniment seems to suggest itself. It simplifies the process of composition to a remarkable degree. With the exception of the intro, this piece was done in less than a day.
P.S. This particular guitar was shipped to me last month. It's my first experience with a 'classical' and I'm still getting used to it.

Ghostgum,
What a pleasant listen this is . . . falls soft and easy on the ears. That rhythm guitar and the shakers hold this all together, allowing the solos to really shine throughout. Really well done!
All my best,
Deej

I agree that version 2 is better, Greg. Unfortunately, version 1 goes live on community radio in Australia on Monday and it's too late to change it Should have waited until the BIAB forum feedback was in before I submitted it!
