Hi Folks.
With some expected and unexpected life's events I was largely absent from the forum for the past few weeks. A lot of catching up to do. Here is a tune I finished a few weeks ago.  I guess it can be classified as a satire of certain powers that try to steer in one direction...or another.  Critical comments are welcomed. Thank you for listening!

Pigeon

Lyrics:

Gloomy urbanistic sights
Non-stop service to the uptown.
Everlasting rollercoaster ride
from birth to sundown.

Choose your side: Left or Right
Don't be shy - join our legion!
And it's alright if you are black or white
sober or high... flying like a pigeon.

Oooh ooh
King is wearing foil crown
Oooh ooh
Mary going round and round

Choose your side: Left or Right
Don't be shy - join our legion!
And it's okay if you are straight or gay
Don't be afraid - fly like a pigeon

Is it just coincidence, or just pure luck?
Smiling doctor handles me a bottle of Prozac
World becoming brighter with every passing minute
I am like an elephant that found a box of peanuts.

Hmm. Choose your side!
Common, c'mon -join our legion.
There are no troubles if you're seeing "double"
We will teach you to fly as a pigeon

Tech Stuff:

Mostly me  with minor help from family members.
BIAB:
1565: Piano Acoustic RockNRollJohn
868: guitar PopRockWaltz
There was another BIAB guitar I used, but it was generated by Utility track and I forgot to write it down.
Midi instruments of Halion and Kontakt. Drums programmed with Session Drummer.

This is my new favorite Misha song.

You have created quite the carnival/circus musical atmosphere.

I absolutely love the instrumental break. What a production!

COOOOOOL.
It's a classic piece of ska pulsed satire - tribalism comes from all sides these days and you nailed the sole bipartisan aspect of US politics.
Fun & funny.
The family spots were well placed too.
Enjoyable and REALLY well constructed.

Cheers

Hi Misha,

Yes I agree with the other comments - you have put a lot of work into this song with excellent results.

I particularly liked the arpeggio sounds starting at 50 seconds.

Best Regards
Nigel

Wild! Fantastic! Manic!

What a great job. Well mixed. Great use of the band. Your vocals fit your style perfectly.

Well written, as always. I love:

"I am like an elephant that found a box of peanuts."

Superb us of the band.

Misha,

Thought provoking lyrics, as always. And interesting, as always, too...

A somewhat maniac quality to the tracks - fast and dense - and well mixed allowing each "voice" its space to catch the ear properly. Nice job on the drum track. Good use of synths. Several listens. Something new catches attention with each new listen.

Excellent work. Original. Entertaining.

Hi Rustyspoon,

It is a very beautiful composition that you deposit. The rhythm is catchy and the satirical lyrics are well written. The mix is impeccable and the noise of the pigeon in the end well placed. I appreciated.

Hi Misha,

At first, I'm glad your little break is over and secondly, you are here again with the newest of your so beautiful and queer songs.
It's not hard to guess which songs are yours.

I enjoy them a lot and this one is absolutely no exception to that!
I think you used that break not only for other business you told me about, but also for making this very clever song. It might be the fuzz you were in was the inspiration of this song!?

But I' am sure you reached your goal with this song. at least to me and those who were in front of me on this post. I enjoyed it. And it was so nice to hear all the effects you put in the song and with your vocals too. For example: "King is wearing foil crown" at the end of that your voice changed into that weird 'ooh'. Brilliant! Tell me how you did that.

A lot is said about your lyrics. I can only agree with them, they are sharp and satirical. There is one tiny 'but'; pigeons don't fly that well! They also make a lot of noise when flying, like at the end of your song. If you like people to do like this it gives problems ;-)
But it is definitly something else then 'fly like a bird'!

With a smile on my face,
Hans

Hi Misha,

critical comment? Ha, don't have the time I'd need to make up any critical comment on this one!

That one's just awesome. Okay, I had to read the lyrics several times but that really paid off. Although there's one open question: What the heck are you smoking when you write amazing lyrics like that? I really need to know, man !!!!

The arrangement is brilliant, too - very creative and engaging. The production is simply flawless. Everything top-level; I'm totally excited !

Thanks a lot for that treat !

Take care,

Stefan

"Choose your side: Left or Right

Yep, pick your bubble and live in it.

What to say? It's abstract and then it ain't smile

You are a most creative writer and you use your vocal and production talents
very well to bring home the lyric.

Well done!

LOVE the lyrics, Misha. What a fun song.
"World becoming brighter with every passing minute
I am like an elephant that found a box of peanuts."
Clever. This song has a shadowy sneaky sound that perfectly reminds me of the admen who try to direct our thinking.

Enjoy whatever happens!

WOW! This is fantastic. Great thought provoking lyrics that were sung with conviction. Outstanding mix and instrumentation also.

This, IMHO, is your best to date.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
