Aint been around for a while.

Had a computer melt down that ultimately led to building my own computer.
Taken me quite a while to get things up and running again.

My first few new songs are very simple arraignments with just me on guitar and vocals.

Here's one called " Those Lies"

https://soundcloud.com/captainmoto/those-lies

Thanks for listening and commenting.

Lyrics:

She's got lightning burning in her eyes
And there's thunder every time she cries
And I brought this storm upon us when I told her those lies

Oh the dark cloud cover wipes the sunshine from the sky
And the cold wind blow'n passing thru me like a knife
And I brought this storm upon us when I told her those lies

I try to tell her everything aint black and white
And she cried and it echoed thru the night
And I brought this storm upon us when I told her those lies

Fury of emotion carries thru to daylight
The restless rage is rolling with no end in sight
And I brought this storm upon us when I told her those lies

Hi Moto,

Dig this tune, so intimate with the sparse arrangement. Nice songwriting, singing, and guitars. This could be your coffee house version and the song would also work with full rock band treatment.

Cheers,

Frank

i hear some high female vocal harmonies later on in the song...just a gut feeling.
like a gradual build up idea.
what i like about this song is its "different".
well done.

GOOD song, good lyric.
Sometimes the distorted guitar sounds brilliant and other times it doesn't.
That's the luck of the game.
Well done.

Cheers

Nice! I really dig your vocal, good write too.

Love the main guitar part, very cool. The other guitar has it's moments too wink

Good to see you back with a new one, I'm a fan.

Ray, thanks for listening and taking time to comment.
About the distorted guitar, maybe some listeners like it maybe some don't.
I never I never challenge a listener's perspective.
I can say there's no luck in this one, it is exactly what I was shooting for brilliant or not.

Thanks Dave,
I know that distortion can be in your face, the subject of the lyrics is not a pleasant one, I wanted some hurt in there.

You nail that feeling for sure.

This is one hell of a song. Loved everything about. You vocal is very strong on this one. Nice guitar chops also.

Two thumbs up.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Hi Captain,

This is an excellent listen in every way. You've got the knack for making good music!

I love the minor-key vibe. The lyrics are a perfect fit for it.

It's two thumbs up from me!

All the best,
Noel

Janice immediately said the tune reminded her of Neil Young's
instrumental in the Depp movie "Dead Man."

We feel the fills well work in the way they accentuate the lyrics.

"Fury of emotion carries thru to daylight
The restless rage is rolling with no end in sight
And I brought this storm upon us when I told her those lies"

Excellent lyric. And vocal. And mix.

Enjoyed it!

Thanks kids,
Wow......just gave that a listen, pretty cutting edge stuff there from Mr. Young.

I had to apply some interesting techniques to get that sound.

Cap’n:

Computer issues suck . . . but glad you got yourself back up and running—welcome back! And, boy, what a re-entry tune. Love the write—really like how you carried the “storm” elements throughout the tune. The vocal is excellent and works perfectly with the stripped down arrangement. Very impressive outing!

My very best to you,

Deej

Your voice reminds me a bit of Stephen Stills. Song sounds like something he might do, too. Nice work.

Thanks Deej,
I've used the guitar to do some "sound effects" in the past.
It can be a little gimmicky so, I don't do it too often.
