Very very clever David. How many of those novels did you read?
Great story and vocal, super instrumentation, and a perfect mix. The lyrics with all those novel references took it over the top for me.
Excellent song!

Well, if it had to be done (and I agree that it did), you are the best one to do it, David. Good concept for a song, and I love those lyrics, excellent references in the chorus. The passion in your vocal convinces all of us that you're right.

Hi David,
Without fail, every time I listen to one of your songs, you leave me smiling from ear to ear. Your creativity seems to be unlimited and unchained.
I am left full of admiration for where your craftsmanship takes you.
Listening through headphones, this sounded really great!
All the best, Noel

Lyrics made me chuckle. Musical bed is excellent and as always I enjoyed your unrestrained vocal delivery. Another fine piece of work, David. Regards, Leon

Wow, that clicky kick sounds odd in the mix...hard to believe it's Modern country rather than a metal tone. David, You do pump energy into your vocals...the superpower becomes unwieldy in spots.
Interesting narrative...starts off in dubious territory before settling into a robust lust story. The book shelf referencing is a good way of filling lines, finding rhymes and doing fine. I did something similar with Beach Boy song titles yonks ago.
The 1st chorus is cool "It's Like Water for Chocolate Where the Crawdaddies Sing All the Light We Cannot See the Latest Stephen King It's Like the Color Purple Like the Girl on the Train And when we've made love for the fifth time it's like the art of racing in the rain" though the crawdaddies thing seemed a little forced tough I'm sure Delia won't mind.
I went back for a 2nd listen but, to be honest, hearing fatigue kicked in pretty quickly with the strident vocal and general volume.

David.
SUPER enjoyable.
Good BAND.
Nice mix.
Your vocals are always impassioned.
Cool write. The 2nd verse is especially strong. Clever chorus.
I've read most of those except Crawdads and Hunger Games (but I saw the movies!). The latest Stephen King is Excellent! The Art Of Racing In The Rain is a favorite!!
Much enjoyed!

Hi David,
I enjoyed this song from the first tone! It is typically your style and I like that style. Although I can't (and wont) copy it. I have to walk my path, as they say. I think I like your lyrics even more. They are huge, but always wrote so clever. Like when you come in with Steven King, or 50 shades of gray as a rhyme for 'day'. Wonderful! Those skills I would like to copy!
I didn't hear any klick, clack or what else that does not belong in your song. While on the other hand the banjo and mandolin fit great in it. I enjoyed it a lot!
Hans

Your songs always make me smile and this is no exception, romantic pop song from a truck driver "Well you don't need no Harvard just understand a girl's heart just tell her she's the only only one to ever fill in the missing part" and "library girls love them head to toe", clever and strong write. Although I don't know most of those books, I appreciate the art of making their titles sing. Good vocals and arrangement, maybe bit thin mix in my ears. Janne

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks
MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:
There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:
1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
