Send an Angel Hey, y'all. I transferred to a new school in the district (15 high schools total in the county district here). It's a better school, but I'm commuting almost three hours each day. As a result, I probably won't get to post as much as I would like to. Floyd has his "Hold on to an Angel," and here is my "Send an Angel." I think I might have the drums too hot. Style: BANJBAL (added bari guitar and res solo) Band: 1758 Banjo, Rhythm 1761 Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming 1765 Guitar, High-Strung Acoustic, Fingerpic 1759 Bass, Electric RealDrums-NashvilleEven16^1-SideStick,Ride 2169 Guitar, Resonator, Soloist 3519 Guitar, Baritone Electric, Background Lyrics Walking down this road alone Two fists of nothing to call my own There’s a rich man wearing a shepherd’s clothes The wolf is gathering a trip of goats Now would be a good time to send an angel Lost and wandering since the day man fell Please send an angel Walking through a world of fears Not a word spoken for 2,000 years There’s a rich man wearing a shepherd’s clothes The wolf is gathering a trip of goats Now would be a good time to send an angel Lost and wandering since the day man fell Please send an angel There’s a rich man wearing a shepherd’s clothes The wolf is gathering a trip of goats The snake is charming good men’s souls Now would be a good time to send an angel Lost and wandering since the day man fell Please send an angel

Hi Ezekiel's Storm. Your vocal has a hint of Johnny Cash and that's a real bonus. Very clear production. The band choice fits very well. Over all very well done. I enjoyed my listen. Rob4580

Hi Ezekiel,
I enjoyed the listen - thanks.
I particularly liked your vocals and the drums and mix were just fine.

Hello, You've a rich voice but, to my ears, it doesn't sit with the backing comfortably when it's deep n rich. Perhaps it's a little loud for the backing, the baritone spaghetti guitar is a good fit for your timbre though. I'll have to come back & listen again in the hope of working out what I am or am not hearing. Cool song and melody.

An interesting story with a good title, evokes cinematic images of a scary man and a road through a desert valley. Great vocals, has very nice and strong Johnny Cash tone which fits with the melody. That baritone guitar is an excellent choice. The banjo gives a Western movie mood.

This does a nice job setting up the mood. I hadn't realized that a group of goats is called a trip, which is perhaps why when the Billy Goat Gruff crosses the bridge, it goes "Trip trap trip trap..."Clever rhyme here: Now would be a good time to send an angel Lost and wandering since the day man fellI enjoyed listening!

Hi Scott, Wow, good song. Everything is just simply well done. The vocals are great, the choice of band is spot on. I hear shades of "raw-hide" and as others stated Johnny Cash.

E. S.,
VERY cool song! Strong write. Love how you made this work with relatively few lines.
Excellent instrumentation! Everything is so crisp and clear - the acoustic, the banjo, the baritone...the drums are perfect (not too loud).
Good vocals. I agree with Ray's point about the deep, rich parts popping out just a bit...
Nice work. Well done.

Scott, Good song. Very good and clever lyrics. Super vocals. Not sure if you adjusted drums or not, they do not stick out in any way to my ears. Enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing. Misha.
P.S. Such a long commute... hope you find something pleasant to do like read or listen to audiobook.

Scott,
Everything you do is always very good! Your vocals are also great every time! This one continues that pattern!
Great writing with an excellent band behind you!
I hope you can carve out some time for your music! It deserves to be heard!
Thanks, Torrey

Hi Ezekiel,
Your songs are always very nice. I like them all the time. This song is no exception. Good lyrics, strong band. But I agree with Ray; your vocals are a bit too rich. I hope I don't offend you, but your vocals are usually your strongest 'instrument' in your song. Now it looked you overdone your singing a bit. I think you sang too low at the beginning of the song. It can make vocals sound 'richer' but sometimes too dramatic as well. On the other hand; all other posters enjoyed your vocals. So I must be wrong...
Have a nice weekend, Hans

A good song with a heavy dose of mood. It's something Dylan or Johnny Cash could have written in their later years - a bit dark with an underlying religious message. Good vocal delivery. The band contributed nicely.
Good one.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks
MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:
There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:
1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
