Hi Folks.
Sadly and coincidently,  while recording this tune, my lifelong friend passed away. Not pandemic related. I do not believe I will ever overcome the thought that she is no longer. In an obscure way this came to be my tribute to her. Ray C. (Rayc on forum) playing bass & Nadya (BGVs). Critical comments are always welcomed. Thank you for your time. Misha.

Another Day

There will come a day
When you will lay down your sword and
You'll search for words - that you never said
and the deeds that you are so proud of,
That made such a perfect sense
Sip through the holes in your pockets like grains of sand

Universe doesn't owe you anything
Just a gentle kiss of life and hope for another day.

You keep on waving your flag,
Standing on a river's bend
And you are ready to surrender your army...
But there is no one on other end.

There will be a night, bullet ridden sky
Moon so close, you can almost taste it's pie
And you'll remember the faces of those who crossed the line
And those who dared to steal a moment of time

Universe doesn't owe you anything
Just a gentle kiss of life and hope for another day.
Universe doesn't owe you anything...

As a listener, not a participant, I offer -
this is beautiful, sublime - a very lovely memorial to a lost part of your life.

Beautiful song, Misha!

No critical comments. First time through I thought your vocal was a little low in the mix, but on the second listen I think maybe it's right where it needs to be.

Nadya sounds great! And Ray is solid as per usual.

Very sorry for your loss, I know how much it hurts losing someone you love frown

Your voice is captivating, Misha, and adding Nadya was genius. Wherever Ray is there is magic. I really really like the lyrics.
"There will be a night, bullet ridden sky
Moon so close, you can almost taste it's pie
And you'll remember the faces of those who crossed the line
And those who dared to steal a moment of time"

So sorry for your loss.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Deep, meaningful and emotional. The trem guitar is a perfect choice. Lovely backing overall and the BGV's especially.

"You keep on waving your flag,
Standing on a river's bend
And you are ready to surrender your army...
But there is no one on other end."

That's one powerful image. I've been there.

An outstanding song and delivery.

Hey Misha....

You have such a unique style and have great command of it.
Emotive vox, interesting instrumentation with smooth changes throughout.
There's an certain ethnic vibe that's hard to describe but it just works.
That is what matters to me.

I always enjoy hearing your creations....very original in concept.

Well done....

EDIT: I forgot to say I'm sorry for your loss.

Misha,

Sorry for your loss.

A beautiful song. Excellent write.

This:
"There will be a night, bullet ridden sky
Moon so close, you can almost taste it's pie
And you'll remember the faces of those who crossed the line
And those who dared to steal a moment of time "

And this...
"Universe doesn't owe you anything
Just a gentle kiss of life and hope for another day."

Nice.

Love the production. You have one of the best "producer's ear" on the forum. Few come close.
I really like the drums on this (a loop, I would guess?).
The opening is STUNNING! The ooohs (Nadya, I assume), the guitar, that little piano figure (Loved that!).

Excellent Music.

Misha,

You have honored your friend in a loving, touching way! It's such a beautiful song that I honestly don't know how anyone could be critical of it in any way! Carry on my friend and continue to make the music that makes the world smile! Thanks, Torrey

Ray,
Thank you for your for feedback and your live input. Tune would not be the same without you.

Thank you for your for listening and your kind words of support! Your feedback means a lot to me.

Gary, yes that is her in the photo, when we were in third grade.

FJ, drums are combination of midi loop and NI DrumLab sections. Drumlab is interesting beast. You can mix in electronic drums with acoustic by setting a single slider / balance. Just starting to explore it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. That emotion is strongly present, especially in the sad and haunting intro, Nadya's ethereal voice and of course in the touching lyrics, "Universe doesn't owe you anything/Just a gentle kiss of life and hope for another day.". Enjoyed the chord progression, not complicated but still having unusual changes. The instrumentation is excellent, very good rhythm section. The airy mix with long reverb works really well.

Absolutely beautiful and haunting.

Outstanding lyrics, including "And those who dared to steal a moment of time".

I love the woman's voice. So sweet yet sad.

Great collaboration between you and the others.

At a best friend's wake years ago a small hot air balloon was released near the ocean at night. We had the same feeling listening to this that we received while watching that balloon fade into the distance.

May she RIP

The production is full of elements that complement one another, e.g., the ethereal arrangement, all of the vocals and, of course the emotive write. And, as one has come to expect from you, the mix sets up an engaging soundstage.

Great BiaB band and you can't go wrong with Mr Cochrane on bass.

Mesmerizingly well done!

Wow. This is a simply an extraordinary piece of work. The most moving song you've written.

Lyrics and music are, as usual, superb.

Sorry about the loss of your friend. I am sure the presence of her absence wreaks havoc on your heart.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
